Love that these two believe in Cooley and the Hoyas enough to commit to the program. I know that NIL is involved…yet both these guys could have very easily tested the portal waters and didn’t. Both had opportunity to do so.
Having spoken to these two …they both just want to win so badly. They want to do it at Georgetown and when they do, we will remember these guys as the ones that turned around the program….just like we do when we think of Jeff, Roy, Wallace, Cook and others in the past!
We have a solid recruiting class coming in, some key transfers that will provide upgrades at point guard and power forward, and more to come.
Like Fielder and Epps, I am all in!

Fielder and Epps will be known forever as "The Core". Of course, NIL permeates “college” sports. Cooley loves Epps. Who was going to overpay for Epps and let him play like Cooley did? Epps and Fielder are in the best position to increase their NIL value. Jeff, Roy, Wallace... Final Four, here we go!!! Someone has to knock off UCon, why not GU, right? I'm ready for some portal news to be brought to light...

I really hope they can add Sean Stewart to the mix. I like all our players but him and Malik Mack are quintessential Georgetown kids (or at least what a Georgetown kid should be) - high character, high academic, elite recruits in their own right. Mack is an extremely high IQ ball player, and Stewart is a tough mother on defense which are two qualities Hoyas have been lacking for ages. Love Peavy’s game too of course but Mack and Stewart are the two guys you land and think oh man, we might cause some real trouble this year and we might be building something special that is more than just good on the court.

During the broadcast of the home game against Xavier, Fanta shared a quote from Cooley about Fielder which was that the biggest thing for him in the off season was the weight room in order to turn all that skill and finesse into Big East level physicality.

Epps renegotiated...everyone is a merc these days, the incentive structure is just different. I hope we remember anyone in this era as fondly as Green, Hibbert, Wallace, but I doubt it.

We should draw attention to the incoming kids too, who all could have chosen to drop their commitments. They didn’t and we will be a WAY better team because of them.

I have no problem with renegotiating.

I have no problem with renegotiating. If we are actually paying Epps more based on what he showed last year…SMH.

So classless and unbecoming of a Hoya fan (really any team's fan), who is presumably an adult, to incessantly bash a player on the team that you, presumably, root for. I don't understand it, nor do I understand why you are allowed to get away with it ad nauseam.

But I will find it hard to treat "kids" who have transferred 2-3 times and making hundreds of thousands (millions?) in NIL money with kid gloves. Especially since most of these "students" are never getting a GU degree.

Yeah, that's one component, and while I don't particularly feel the need to incessantly bash college athletes, I can at least understand what you are saying. But the other component that you haven't touched on is that these are supposed to be guys you want to root for since you are a fan of the team and they are on the team. Not saying there is no room for criticism, but the incessant bashing of particular players really sucks. Dante Harris wasn't making hundreds of thousands of dollars when he got bashed incessantly by this same poster. But you go ahead and defend it if you want.

I agree that I will always root for these guys just because they are wearing blue and gray. But if we get a true mercenary, i.e a guy who transferred in for a big NIL check, then if he stinks up the joint I will vent my criticism of him to the point of bashing. I think of Hunter Dickenson. Considering how much NIL money he was reported to have gotten if I were a Kansas alum I would have been hard pressed not to bash.

Criticism is always fine. Bashing, either through overemotional anger or repetition, really isn't justified in any way except when the player themselves does something like give up, or does something illegal/unethical.
These players are now professional adults and while I agree that the situation has changed in that respect -- they are employees -- I still think it is ridiculous that people think that they, as grown ass adults with far more age and experience, are justified in being nasty either in vehemence or repetition in a public manner. You're an adult, too; them getting paid is not an excuse for you not being able to control your emotions or be an Edited.
The level that some people on here go to with repetitive bashing is just a dick move, whether or not they are paid.

He could have walked too. I would assume he was on scholarship that semester and got NIL.
