Yes, Providence has emerged as a more significant rival with the hiring of Cooley, but I hope the conference gets as many bids into the tournament as possible.
I want to kick their a** next season. I am a bit indifferent about Wednesday. I just want the returners to play well.

It’s kind of funny that Providence is playing us. It’s truly a no-win situation for them. Exactly. We really have nothing to lose. If we lose by any amount the narrative is the same as it is already. And Providence still has a chance at the tournament, which would help the conference. (But to be fair, they will be a huge underdog to Creighton if they beat us, so their NCAA chances are precarious at best.) If we win, it really doesn't mean anything, other than maybe pride in sending Providence home. I am hoping at the very least this allows our guys to play a little loosely. While it's not a big deal, their having played at MSG a few days ago doesn't hurt. Does anybody know if the team went home on Saturday, or if they just stayed in New York?

I did not watch the Nova/DePaul game, but I'm guessing that Nova's win did absolutely nothing to improve their bubble situation (in fact, it likely hurt them). They have to win tomorrow to have any shot at all.

Looks like Providence really misses Cooley. My goodness, what did we do to ourselves?

Happy for Kim English, though this is a bad result for the Big East. Creighton drops from a potential 2 seed to 4 or 5. Although Duke losing to NC State helps.

Can't believe Providence is going to pull this off. Kim English sure is benefitting off of EC's recruits and team building.

English absolutely has something special going on that's all his, but he did land in a solid situation that was ready to compete. Hopkins going down and the reckoning they did to right the ship was huge and guided by English for sure. Not trying to discredit at all -- just saying that he inherited an overall solid situation and has put his seal on it. They're legit.

The more BE teams in the Tournament, the more money GU could receive… I guess…but I think it’s best for the conference when we have teams with a legit chance to win it all. UConn clearly does, but Marquette does not if Kolek is hobbled. I thought Creighton might have a shot, but it’s going to be much more difficult as a 4 seed than a 2 seed.

They have one of the best BE players of the last generation, 2 solid 5th year guys, and they are squeaking in the tournament as the last team in. When we had a transcendent talent in Porter and a worst roster, we were a 2 seed and a top 5 team. English’s offense is horrendous and 5/11 wins since Hopkins went down are against us and DePaul. English hasn’t don’t anything but rely on the foundation that Ed left. Look at Missouri, Gates was getting all the credit last year and he finished 0-20 in the SEC without his legacy players. Providence roster looks awful next year and he can’t risk recruiting over Pierre, Floryd or they will leave which limits him in the portal. Let’s check back in on this discussion in 3 years and I think we’re easily the better program moving forward.

Didn't PC sneak into the tourney last year as an 11 seed with Carter, Hopkins, Bynum, Croswell & Locke? Who's left playing from the foundation of last year's team Hibernation? P.S. - The fact that you think a supporting cast of Starks, DSR, Hopkins, Lubick & Trawick is far worse than Oduro, Gaines, Pierre, Floyd Jr. & Barron is mind-boggling imho.
