What you saw tonight from Rowan will come from Fiedler if tell him he has the shots to take. The bad shots by Heath, Epps, and Style continue. Thinking of next year. Styles and Epps minutes will go down unless they understand the system Cooley will find a mauler to support Supreme and Sorber.
We have to rid the team of the PRIMO-like players. There is hope, hard to see but it is there.

I wish EC could read the floor and make adjustments sooner Last wish -- I get three, right? -- is for us not to allow any more easy layup baskets. Hammer them and knock them down -- make 'em pay to come inside. Whatever you have to do. Easy threes will kill you; walk right in and scoring layups rips out your soul. Exactly. I thought “toughness” was staple #1 for Cooley.

Is five pages a record HT low for a Villanova game? The thread had 12 posts close to game time.

You can blame it on me.
Noon flight from Boston did not leave until 4:35 and an aircraft switch.
Got to my seat and it was 8-8. Other than the fire that got the score to 45-41, it was downhill.
Impressed with Brumbaugh.
Teams have figured out how to steer the ball away from Epps so he can’t hurt them. Or perhaps it’s that the offense takes too long to get started with a 4 out set.
Some flashes on both offensive and defensive ends, but nothing sustained.

RB dribbles the air out of the ball too, the staff has to correct this sooner than later. This might be Cooley’s design to keep the score low.

We had a chance to be up big at the beginning of the game and we did not take it.

We have 32 rebounds and they have 11 steals?? They had 11 steals to our one.
Most of their steals were from our mistakes / turnovers.

This. The one thing I felt fairly confident in was Cooley would have us playing better in February than we were in December. I don’t think it’s even debatable. We’ve been worse. Hard to dispute this opinion... Rowan played well, I hope he gets big minutes the rest of the year We are starved for a winner and starved for a BE win.
I think we are 3-52 in the BE over the last 3 seasons. Starved.

Just shocking how far the program has fallen in 3 years. I have faith in Cooley but this off-season is critically important for our rebuild. We need to execute at an A/A+ level.

What on Earth is Epps doing? What he usually does. This team needs 4 new starters. Cook or Styles could play in other rotations. Cook, Styles and Brumbaugh are the keepers. Maybe Fielder. Cooley and his crew made horrible misevaluations on Epps and Massoud.

It is nor professional sports and you are either worth the money or you’re not. I don’t advocate running people off but the “salary” can certainly change. The players all wanted the money but you have to accept the good with the bad. Unfortunately, there are no guaranteed contracts for them.

I was utterly disgusted watching the game, particularly the second half. I am just so sick of losing. I am sure everyone here feels that way too.
There isn’t much positive to take from the game but there are a few things:
- Cooley hopefully realized Massoud isn’t worthy of much playing time, which is why he mostly rode the bench.
- Brumbaugh actually looked more confident and able to me than he did early in the season.
- Our defense in the first half was one of our better halves, giving up about 0.903 points per possession. But it was much worse in the second half (1.31 points per possession).

For the first 15 minutes in the first half, we had a Big East quality defense. As sad as it is, that's a big improvement on that end. Rowan played all 20 minutes of the second half, which is a huge improvement too. There has to be some way where we switch around Bristol and Epps while Brumbaugh is in so that Epps is the guy in the corner to pass the ball to and Bristol is up top trying to penetrate.

… Teams have figured out how to steer the ball away from Epps so he can’t hurt them…. …. Took some of the words right out of my mouth. This is the reason for the backslide — on both ends of the court: other teams/coaches have adjusted to our weaknesses and strengths and make us pay. The lay-up line and open threes on the other end result from probing for the weakness/rapid ball movement and the extra pass until someone in blue and gray (or last night, white) loses their man and then too late “help” creates the opening. Saw way too much of that last several years and it is (to borrow a phrase) “deja vu all over again.” I’m one of those that thinks there is hope down the road, but still…

I hope we improve in the off-season and that Cooley has a real rebuild plan, but this has been tough to watch. I’m just not seeing many signs of improvement. I had hoped that this team would sneak up and win 2 or 3 league games down the stretch this year. We’ve had a couple chances. Last night was a decent chance against a mediocre Villanova team, but it just wasn’t close.
We always seem to be playing from behind. It’ll be close sometimes even for a half, but we will let the other team go on a massive run.
I think we should give Cooley a chance. If anyone can rebuild this program, he can. My bigger fear is I am starting to wonder if anyone can rebuild this program. Are things too far gone and college athletics too different for Georgetown to be relevant?
