Fielder has to be asking himself what he has to do to play crunch time minutes compared to what these other kids are doing... Fielder was getting abused on defense. Compared to Massoud doing what?

Close. Poor execution down the stretch with the turnovers and stupid decision to foul. Team is better without Massoud and needs to limit his minutes.

Unsure how you let Dawes get that ball each time down the stretch.
Foul anyone else.

Finally get a lead, play good defense and score again to go up three, and then

Fielder has to be asking himself what he has to do to play crunch time minutes compared to what these other kids are doing... Fielder was getting abused defensively but he’s getting close. Could’ve have this one, but was happy to see a competitive game save for the first 8 minutes or so. Got some good contributions from bench guys, but can’t get next to nothing from 2 supposed starters.

team played 1 on 5 offensively the last 3 minutes of the game. Epps isn't a point guard, You have to have someone on the team running the halfcourt other than him. If he's doing it, everyone is standing around watching him dribble.

Fielder was getting abused on defense. Compared to Massoud doing what? Ish wasn't on the court, either.

This one got close and a lot of good fight and good play to get back in the game.
Many players showing a lot of solid improvement and good play, but there are gaps on defense with players and players who have largely disappeared on the offensive end scoring.

Brutal finish. Massoud has to see his minutes greatly decline the 2nd half of the season. There's no upside.

Fielder's showing promise, but i have no issue staying with the lineup that was playing well most of that half.
Bringing Ish back for that offensive possession was... a mistake.
Bringing Rowan in to foul... Dawes... not good, either.

Refs were garbage down the stretch. It's not solely the reason for the meltdown, but it was a part. Awful calls against Heath and Epps. Terrible execution from Heath down the stretch. Stupid turnover when we had momentum, and stupid weak foul on the breakaway to give an additional point. As was said earlier either don't touch the guy or foul him so hard he doesn't get the shot up. 1. Take away the awful start to the game and this may be a completely different story. Seton Hall was there for the taking. 2. Massoud is a zero-trick pony. No reason he should play over Fielder. 3. Fielder has grown a ton this year. His one-on-one defense is still his Achilles heel, but his hard hedging was disruptive. 4. Epps is clearly our danger man. 5. Heath plays like a freshman. He seems to always be scrambling to get to where he is supposed to be. 6. The core of this team (I'm using to refer to all non-seniors) is in a good place and a year's worth of chemistry will serve them well. 7. A tough loss, but we were right there with them. We could be quite the banana skin game for several Big East teams.
I also found the "in the huddle" with Shaheen amusing. "They're going to take crazy shots. We told you this!" Must be a fun scouting report.

Massoud is an absolute disaster for this team, particularly when he’s playing alongside Cook. Most of the period when we went down 24-8 both of them were in. Same at the beginning of the second half.
Then for some inexplicable reason, Cooley puts him in at the end and he immediately coughs it up. He doesn’t make threes, he cannot defend, and he cannot make twos. So why is he starting? He’s killing us.
I am going to do a more in depth post about lineups, but right now Massoud needs to mostly sit. That’s a big part of why we lost tonight. While I generally have given Cooley the benefit of the doubt he did two really stupid things tonight: putting in Massoud in the end, and fouling when down by 3.
I’m glad we fought back from the 16 point deficit but that isn’t good enough. We need to win some games.

I thought maybe I read the clock wrong when there was a 7 second difference and they fouled. If we are going to have bad defending, I would much rather have Fielder out there, no competition, at least he will get better. Heath drives me so insane, he is really something else

Fielder was getting abused on defense. Compared to Massoud doing what? Fielder didn't take Massouds minutes. Bristol did. Fielder took Cooks minutes for the long stretch until he got beat 3 straight trips.

Couldn’t watch due to work. Did something happen to Rowan? He was absolutely pitiful in the first half leading to a 24-8 deficit. Game turned around after he was pulled.

The offense broke down completely after we got the lead. We just held. Have to keep some movement even if you want it to end up with Epps at the end. The offense continues to be very one dimensional generally. When they go in of course it looks good. And when they don't ...
I'm encouraged by the matchup 3-2. It's an unusual zone and likely tough to prep for. You have to get the ball in the middle from the corner rather than from top or from wing. And that's the opposite of what you're used to. We have done increasingly well with it over several games. Eventually teams figure it out (and likely more will prep for it). But I like it as a change of pace and hope we use it aggressively.
Maybe he will get quicker and better but I actually prefer Rowan off the ball at this point. I think if he gets a pass off a screen he has a better chance of going downhill and he can be effective when he does that.
