12-17 and now about to lose his best player by far (a freshman) to the portal if rumors are true. Yea - a bastion of building success. I like Shrewsbury, but this post is comical. Didn't we beat Wake in a scrimmage and your boy Epps scored 40. Lol. Has ND played better as the year has gone on? Be honest, if Gtown were on a 3 game winning streak after beating DePaul, Nova & Xavier we'd be very happy as fans right now, that's basically what ND has done after a rough start to their season. I'd bet my house you wouldn't let anyone say big deal Gtown is still 11-18. I get that many folks in Hoya land are already in portal mode, but you can't use rumors to knock the progress Shrewesberry has made with his squad overall. They're top 25 in defense with a truly young team that doesn't have one player averaging 1 block per game. IIRC Wake was missing a few starters during that game but if you want to have it as a feather in Gtown's cap I have zero issues with that. The scrimmage comment was a joke! That doesn't mean sh*t in my book. I just think Gtown even with this disaster of a roster would also have 3 or 4 more wins if they played in ACC. This isn't a feather in cap of Gtown or a knock on Shrewsberry - who I like as a coach. I just don't think the teams are having very different seasons unlike you.

It's not about the wins overall, it's about the wins ND is getting now, they've shown signs of progress which is a big key. I didn't state they were having very different seasons, I stated that ND looks as though they're building something. They've established a defensive identity TC. Which tells me his players are responding well to the staff. Remember Cooley says defense is a "will and a want"

They are 262 in offense and their message board is complaining about why didn't they hire Rick Pitino. Pitino is the better coach so I'm not surprised. Are they talking about completely revamping the roster too?

If the offense catches up, watch out for ND. What has Cooley set up with Year 1? If the university is willing to make that commitment, the. ND has the pockets to become a player in the new NIL$ universe.

Would I have liked a better foundation set year 1? Absolutely. I think you'd have to be crazy to say otherwise. But does that mean much of anything for Year 2 for either ND or Gtown? IMO, not really.

So you're saying you would have absolutely liked a better foundation this year but also it won't matter much for year two anyway? Seems contrary Dragon

Would I have preferred that we needed 1 or 2 holes filled to push the team to new heights vs 3 or 4? Absolutely. But I don't think it changes the narrative all that much.

Have beaten Wake Forest and Clemson in back to back games, both teams are top 30 KP ranked teams. There are no throw away or punt years, either you build or you don’t. 12-17 and now about to lose his best player by far (a freshman) to the portal if rumors are true. Yea - a bastion of building success. I like Shrewsbury, but this post is comical. Didn't we beat Wake in a scrimmage and your boy Epps scored 40. Lol. Using only W-L records as a way to measure teams is very 1980s. We are 329 in defense and some on HoyaTalk were consistent in their desire for Pitino over Cooley. It makes sense that fans would want their team to have the best coach available.

Unsurprising that TC is the type who spends time reading message boards for other teams. Really checks out.

Wouldn’t having only 1 or 2 holes to fill mean the program was on track? IMHO that means progress. What we’ve seen so far is a continuation of the recent past unfortunately. At least you’re admitting the narrative would change some which is much more than others on the board.
