I'd never heard of this 6"8" power forward myself, but especially on the heels of yesterday's game/being so soft inside thought it an opportune time to flag him/see if anyone knows anything. Says here (link below) he is the #1 junior in VA and now I think still top 40 in the nation... Has been offered by a bunch of folks, including by Duke after his visit in September and at least the article says he will be visiting the Hilltop at some point (maybe already happened/have no clue). Also relevant to locals: his team is playing at 3PM Nov. 30 against Episcopal HS in the opening round of the Sleepy Thompson tournament at St. Stephen's/St. Agnes (4 games that day/this will be the second one) and if Hoyas are at all in the mix I would think Ivan Thomas at the least will be there (he's a new associate head coach who was a big time travel coach locally and the former head coach for many years at the then TC Williams HS, about a mile away from SSSAS) www.insidenova.com/sports/top-rated-basketball-recruit-nate-ament-transfers-to-highland/article_43130b4a-2bde-11ee-b997-4fe68164101d.html

“I hear from Duke, UVA, Indiana, Michigan, LSU and a lot of other schools.”... “Outside of Duke and Virginia my first unofficial was to VTech but that’s it so far.”... Duke: “We have a good relationship and we talk on the phone all the time. I’ve been there two times and we’re really close and real cool.” “My visit was awesome and Countdown to Craziness was crazy. It was good going down there to see how they play and hearing how they would love to have me.” UVA: “My last visit was good I was down there two times already. I’m really close with them too.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-duke-uva--220467742/

"NATE AMENT JUMPS 21 SPOTS INTO TOP 20 Ament is one of the most notable risers in this rankings refresh. He impressed both with Team Loaded on the adidas 3SSB Circuit as well as at this year’s Will Barton Elite Camp in Baltimore. The 6-foot-7 wing is a 3-and-D prospect that has really come into his own as a shot-creator over the past year. He’s a smooth, three-level scoring threat that projects as a high-level defender down the road thanks to his elite length and lateral quickness. Ament holds early offers from programs such as Duke, Indiana, Pitt, Creighton and Illinois. He took an unofficial visit to Duke in mid-September." hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/33634/nate-ament-25

This will be my last post on Nate, as it would seem we are not on his radar at all. But let me tell you he is a PLAYAH... Saw him yesterday at the Sleepy Thompson tournament (Hoyas had no one there -- a pretty good indicator we are not in the hunt). Is now listed at 6'9" (up two inches from the Summer) and seems every inch of it, and may still be growing. VERY slender but incredibly smooth on the dribble and has range on the jumper (a few times launched quick 35 footers/no way Highland was gonna lose regardless) that didn't go but looked effortless and he's silk around the hoop. My guess is he ends up at Duke -- and if he fills out may well be one and done there. Highland will win the tournament going away, methinks, and are playing again this evening at 7PM at St. Stephen's St. Agnes if anyone wanted to see for themselves (sadly, the final is Saturday immediately opposite our TCU game).

"Ament says that knows what he is looking for in a school and location might not be the biggest part of that decision. “It definitely plays a factor but it will not be the sole reason on where I go to school,” he said. “I want to go where I best fit but with UVA being only a couple hours away, my family could come and see me whenever they want. But at the end of the day I want to go to the place that gives me the best education and the best play I can go to improve on the court.” Other than Virginia, Ament mentioned that he is hearing a lot from Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, LSU and Duke." virginia.rivals.com/news/four-star-f-ament-talks-recent-uva-visit-where-things-stand
