Morons. Shocking that the cult that hates government can't govern, right? Johnson delays funding plan as House GOP rebels ahead of shutdown deadline House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) abandoned plans to force a vote on a GOP-friendly government spending bill Wednesday, as his unruly Republican conference and new demands by former president Donald Trump slowed work to prevent a possible shutdown. Congress must pass new funding legislation before Sept. 30 or crucial agencies and services will shutter. Johnson had been trying to pass a financing bill backed only by his narrow GOP majority in the House to gain leverage in negotiations with the Democratic-led Senate and White House. That bill would extend government funding to March 28 and would add unrelated new requirements that voters show proof of citizenship before registering for federal elections. But infighting within the Republican conference — more of the same conflicts that have brewed there for more than a year — sank Johnson’s plan. www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/09/11/house-republicans-rebel-funding-plan/

Ha ha ha. Morons. Congressional Republicans try to hide from Trump’s debate performance Republicans tried to largely hide from former president Donald Trump’s debate performance Tuesday, mostly cheering him on or just avoiding the issue altogether. Speaking to reporters Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) focused entirely on a failed government funding plan. What did he think of Trump’s debate performance, reporters asked him. Johnson walked away, into the House chamber. Across the Capitol, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), the No. 2 GOP leader, fell into the passive voice to avoid criticizing Trump when asked about the missed opportunity to define Vice President Kamala Harris. “Well, um, that job’s got to get done,” said Thune, who is asking colleagues to promote him to majority leader. Who should take up that task? Thune ducked into a closed luncheon for GOP senators without answering the question. That’s hardly a ringing endorsement from the two people who, if he won the presidency, Trump would rely on to advance his agenda on Capitol Hill. Almost 11 weeks after congressional Democrats faced a political come-to-Jesus moment surrounding President Joe Biden’s standing, Republicans confronted their own version of a presidential nominee who handled his debate performance with confused, rambling answers that diverged into territory few voters care about. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/09/12/debate-trump-harris-election-republicans/

Fine people on both sides he says? Odd that he and his supporters keep saying, "Hold my beer." Reminding us that, "deplorables" was a HUGE compliment in retrospect.

MAGA morons. Idiots. The House GOP’s inability to coalesce around a strategy to address a looming government funding deadline is sparking a blame game among Republicans, after opposition from multiple factions helped thwart Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) strategy to avert a shutdown at the end of the month. Grappling with his razor-thin House majority, Johnson opted to try the spending plan proposed by hard-liners in the House Freedom Caucus: attach a conservative proposal, a bill to require proof of citizenship to vote, to a six-month extension of funding as an opening salvo to the Democratic-controlled Senate. Former President Trump has also called to condition government funding on the voting bill. thehill.com/homenews/house/4879434-republicans-frustrated-government-funding-shutdown/

Malignant clown morons continue to be clowns. House Republicans have been in power for nearly two years — and they’re still unable to solve fiscal problems within their ranks. The belligerent nature of the conference, coupled with a historically narrow majority, has made it almost impossible for any GOP leader to appease each corner of their constituency when nearly every Republican vote is necessary to pass bills along party lines. Now House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is once again in the middle of the tensions that almost a year ago saw his predecessor ousted in part for refusing to fund the government the way a small group of far-right members demanded. But Johnson still worked through the weekend to rally support for his already-once-delayed proposal to avert an Oct. 1 government shutdown on terms friendly to the GOP, which he hopes to put to a vote this week. www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/09/16/house-republicans-government-funding/

They're not struggling with a racism problem. They think it's just fine. They have no problem with it at all as far as I can discern. They, apparently, embrace it more openly now than ever in my lifetime. I wish someone could tell me that I'm entirely wrong.

This story exemplifies what scares the racist MAGA "Republicans" who wish to continue America's legacy of White supremacy. Racist snowflake G0Pers would ban a retelling of this story in schools as it would make White children feel badly? And of course they and a corrupt SCOTUS deny institutional racism exists. 85 years later, Chinese family honors the Black couple who rented to them Ron and Lloyd Dong Jr. grew up on a sunny, palm tree-lined street in Coronado, Calif., a resort town in San Diego Bay. They had a childhood most would covet: The schools were excellent, and the beach was just a few blocks from their family home. It almost didn’t happen. Their father, Lloyd Dong Sr., a Chinese farmer and gardener who worked at the renowned Hotel del Coronado, came to the city at a time when discriminatory housing covenants made it almost impossible for non-White families to live there. Only one couple would rent to him in 1939: Gus and Emma Thompson, one of the few Black families that owned a home in Coronado. After Gus — a former enslaved person — died, Emma sold the house to Dong. To the Dongs, the Thompsons’ decision — an unprompted gesture of solidarity across two families’ experiences of discrimination in the United States — paved the way for their American Dream. And it deserved a response, even decades later. The Dongs are now selling their Coronado home and donating about two-thirds of the proceeds — likely to be around $5 million — to a resource center for Black students at San Diego State University, which they asked to rename in honor of Gus and Emma Thompson. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/09/18/coronado-house-san-diego-state/

Corrupt liars. You really have to be DAF to align yourself with "Republicans." Trump consulted with Steven M. Mnuchin and David Malpass, his former treasury secretary and his appointee to lead the World Bank, two people familiar with the matter said. But then the Republican presidential nominee surprised his audience, calling in a speech for the creation of a U.S. sovereign wealth fund paid for by new revenue from sweeping tariffs on trade. Neither adviser had suggested that idea, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations. The gap between what Trump’s advisers recommended and what he ultimately espoused underscores the awkward position Republican lawmakers and many other conservatives find themselves in over the former president’s increasingly extreme trade proposals. www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/09/20/trump-tariff-trade-gop/

It's a real surprise that Trump passed over this guy to pick JD Vance.

Disgusting hypocrites. Self-proclaimed good "Christians" no doubt. HoyaTalk "Republicans" you guys are all good, right? Mark Robinson’s porn site scandal greeted with shrugs by some Trump backers WILMINGTON, N.C. — The scandal engulfing Mark Robinson’s campaign for North Carolina governor seems career-ending to many in politics. At Donald Trump’s rally here this weekend, however, plenty of people weren’t bothered. So what if Robinson, the Republican nominee for governor, is linked to the account of a porn site user who once argued for the reinstatement of slavery, detailed an affair with his wife’s sister, called himself a “black NAZI” and praised Adolf Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf” as “a good read”? “I didn’t put much credence in it,” Bob Judson, a 70-year-old unaffiliated voter, said of the allegations against Robinson. “We’ve all done things in our past that we’re sorry for. Some of the things are crazy.” “I mean,” he added, “if we just went on that, we wouldn’t be here for Trump, would we?” Robinson’s contest has become a remarkable test case of voters and GOP leaders’ tolerance for disturbing allegations against candidates in the Trump era — when news is deeply distrusted, scandals carry less weight and no offense seems to be enough to rattle Trump’s base. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/09/22/mark-robinson-trump-cnn-porn-site-reaction/
