Ironic that anyone from Demented Donnie's campaign is complaining about poor taste. I guess the grifters just want the money for themselves. For several weeks, the Loudoun County Republican Party has been selling merchandise on its website highlighting a photo of former president Donald Trump triumphantly surviving a July 13 assassination attempt. Among the eight shooting-themed items for sale: “Trump is Victorious after being shot Red T-shirt” for $35; “Trump Got Shot and is Victorious Coffee Mug” for $15.52; “Trump is Shot and is Victorious Mouse Pad” for $13.47. The former president’s campaign is not happy about this fundraising effort. In a sharply worded letter to Loudoun County Republican Party Chairman Scott Pio, lawyers for the campaign called on him to “immediately cease and desist from all unauthorized use of President Trump’s name and likeness, or we will pursue all claims against you. It will hurt.” David A. Warrington, general counsel for Trump’s presidential campaign, wrote in the letter that the day after the assassination attempt Pio had used the event to raise money. “Your attempt to capitalize on the assassination attempt of President Trump was in extremely poor taste,” he wrote. “The idea of selling merchandise to capitalize on an event like this is not unheard of,” Marc Farinella, senior adviser to the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, told The Washington Post last month. “Trump surviving an assassination attempt, his fist in the air in defiance, it all fits into the narrative about Trump that Trump and his supporters want to tell.” Trump’s official merchandise page includes a T-shirt with an image of him from that day with his fist in the air and the word “FIGHT” below it. And shirts and other merchandise featuring images following the assassination attempt were big sellers at the Republican National Convention last month. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/08/18/trump-assassination-merchandise-lawsuit-virginia-republican/

Pathetic loser. Radical nihilists. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's revenge tour is sputtering to an end this week, with just one primary win to show for it. Why it matters: McCarthy's former colleagues complain he's effectively lit millions of dollars on fire and made it harder for new leaders to do their jobs. Every dollar, every dollar that we have, should be going, we're raising this cycle, should be going to defending a greater majority of the House, not work on, not work on a revenge tour," a GOP lawmaker told Axios. www.axios.com/2024/08/18/kevin-mccarthy-house-speaker-gaetz-elections

Of course they want all the money for themselves. How dare some interloper try to horn in on the grift.

It's sad to note that some of those that are smart enough to know that trickle-down economics is entirely fallacious seem to not realize that trickle-up stupidity is exceedingly dangerous, rampant and, apparently, contagious.

Shocking! "Republicans" are liars and hypocrites! The GOP’s greatest skill: Taking credit for things Democrats did Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance has accused his Democratic counterpart of “stolen valor,” a term that typically refers to lying about a military service record. But the actual perpetrators of “stolen valor” in this election are Vance and his party — if not in the military context, then at least in the public service one. Republican politicians have repeatedly claimed credit for valiant actions they didn’t take, pro-family legislation they didn’t support and other popular policies they’re trying to repeal. For instance, as Democrats celebrated the Inflation Reduction Act’s two-year anniversary last week, Republicans, who unanimously voted against the law in 2022, condemned it and pledged to claw it back. (They’ve already voted a couple dozen times to repeal various portions of it.) But when it comes to the projects the law subsidized, these same Republicans are big cheerleaders — both for the projects and their own (imagined) role in enabling them. Most major IRA-funded projects are in Republican-held districts, so the list of triumphs to seize responsibility for is extensive. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (La.) has puffed up wind energy investments in his state. Rep. Nancy Mace (S.C.) has likewise trumpeted an electric vehicle plant and an electric regional transit hub. Rep. Andy Biggs (Ariz.) touted a high-tech battery manufacturing facility. And Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), who has called global warming “healthy,” has since cheered a solar manufacturing project in her district. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/08/20/vance-republicans-stolen-valor-ira-infrastructure/

A quality lacking in 95% of "Republicans" and those who support them.

Just another grifter? He fits right in the MAGA GOP. Trump-lite! CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Jim Justice is in a mad-dash legal fight as he runs for U.S. Senate to keep a historic West Virginia hotel at his luxury resort before it's auctioned off next week due to unpaid debts. Around 400 employees at The Greenbrier hotel received a letter Monday from an attorney representing health care provider Amalgamated National Health Fund saying they will lose coverage Aug. 27 unless the Republican's family pays $2.4 million in missing contributions, Peter Bostic of the Workers United Mid-Atlantic Regional Joint Board said Tuesday. The Justice family hasn't made contributions to employees' health fund in four months, and an additional $1.2 million in contributions will soon be due, according to the letter from Ronald Richman, an attorney with Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, the firm representing the Amalgamated National Health Fund. The letter also said that some contributions were taken out of employees’ paychecks but never transferred to the health fund, which concerned union officials. Justice, who owns dozens of companies and had a net worth estimated at $513 million by Forbes Magazine in 2021, has been accused in numerous court cases of being late in paying millions for family business debts and fines for unsafe working conditions at his coal mines. abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/gov-jim-justice-halt-foreclosure-west-virginia-hotel-112996544

Kinzinger taking it to the shell of the former Republican Party. Good for him!
After leaning hard into patriotism this week, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican congressman, teases that he wants to let Republicans in on a secret: “Democrats are just as patriotic as we are.” The crowd breaks out into chants of “USA,” which has been a feature of this week’s convention.
“The Democrats are as patriotic as us. They love this country just as much as we do. They are as eager to defend American values at home and abroad as we conservatives have ever been. … Donald Trump is a weak man pretending to be strong. He is a small man who is pretending to be big. ... How can a party claim to be patriotic, and follow a man who tried to overthrow the results of a free and fair election?” -- Adam Kinzinger

It's a good thing Rod Carew finally became an American citizen after all this time, or he would have been a prime candidate for deportation under the next Trump administration.

Mitch "Turtleman" McConnell is right up there as well. Agreed. And then there’s Tom Cotton. Anyone talking about “Trump Derangement Syndrome” in 2024 is so pathetic. Yeah, it’s really deranged to think a narcissistic, sociopathic, racist, insurrectionist, conman shouldn’t be president. These people keep abasing themselves even when you think they can’t stoop any lower. thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4846688-tom-cotton-republican-speakers-dnc/amp/
