Details matter. Goober seeks an unredacted audio recording of the interview. The transcript provided has redactions over the matters deemed covered by executive privilege. OK. Then how is a redacted written transcript of an interview not subject to executive privilege, but the redacted audio recording of it is? Pre-Mazars summary of the federal courts reluctance to review executive privilege. (N.B. News organizations have filed FOIA requests for the audio of the interview. Goober has also stated that he thinks Biden's counsel was answering or coaching Biden in his answers during the interview. One would think that Hur would have noted that in his report and Congressional testimony. The cynical political take is that Biden is taking a page out of the Grifter's playbook - delay resolution of any FOIA or executive privilege claim until after the election). And federal judges have been reluctant to weigh in when presidents refuse to share information with Congress. From 1789 until Trump’s inauguration in 2017, federal courts had only considered five cases in which the president claimed executive privilege in response to a congressional subpoena. Astonishingly, the Supreme Court has yet to weigh in when a president refuses to comply with a congressional subpoena – even though presidents since George Washington have resisted congressional demands for information. theconversation.com/courts-have-avoided-refereeing-between-congress-and-the-president-but-trump-may-force-them-to-wade-in-128269

The clown cult. Not interested in actual governing but only meaningless performative politics in support of a sexual assaulter, fraudster and liar. House GOP escalates war on Justice Dept. as members flock to Trump trial The Republican chairs of the powerful House Judiciary and Oversight committees slammed the Biden administration this week, accusing the president and Attorney General Merrick Garland of politicizing the justice system. But as Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and James Comer (R-Ky.) pilloried the White House and the Justice Department, their committees were hobbled by attendance problems: At least five members were in New York on Thursday morning, standing behind former president Donald Trump at his criminal trial and inserting themselves, and their political views, into the same justice system the two chairmen claimed to be defending from politicization. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/05/16/trump-trial-politicization-justice-gaetz/

You ask, "How low can they go?" The former Republican party says, "Hold my beer."

Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! Grifter really knows how to pick "the best people." The judge overseeing Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy case said he was “disturbed” so little progress has been made in sorting out his finances, and refused Tuesday to lift a legal barrier that has kept the former New York City mayor from appealing a $148 million defamation judgment. Giuliani declared bankruptc y in December after he was ordered to pay the staggering sum to two former election workers for spreading a false conspiracy theory about their role in the 2020 election. abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/giuliani-bankruptcy-judge-frustrated-case-rebuffs-attempt-challenge-110236427

Happy Birthday, Rudy!! PHOENIX — Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes on Friday announced that Rudy Giuliani had been served with the notice of his indictment in connection with an alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. The announcement came less than two hours after a social media post from Giuliani taunted Mayes for failing to deliver his indictment. The notice was served to Giuliani during a celebration in Palm Beach, Florida, for his 80th birthday. www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/two-hours-mocking-arizonas-attorney-general-rudy-giuliani-served-birth-rcna152905

I can’t believe a Republican would publicly do the thing that’s best for his/her political at the expense of the country. Simply shocking. Will never vote for her for anything. Spineless loser.

She’s playing the long game, i.e., Trump will not be able to run and she takes over with Trump’s MAGA blessing.

"Republicans" = Malignant Morons Trump pays off a porn star and yet is hailed as a champion of Christian values. He mocks prisoners of war and calls dead soldiers “suckers,” and his MAGA base is thrilled by his patriotism. And, as Tom Nichols notes in The Atlantic today, Trump brags about his tight relationship with America’s implacable adversary, Vladimir Putin, claiming that the Russian president will release detained Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich “for me, but not for anyone else.” Trump has been found liable for sexual abuse and defaming his victim. He incited a violent attack on the Capitol, called for terminating rules in the Constitution, dined with a neo-Nazi, and floated the idea of executing the nation’s most senior general. He has been fined for fraud on a massive scale, faces more than 80 felony charges, and is accused of withholding and sharing top-secret national-security documents. Faced with all of this, the Republican Party says, Yeah, we want four more years of that. GOP leaders wearing red ties make lockstep pilgrimages to his felony trial in New York to show their fealty, www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/archive/2024/05/the-trumpian-vertigo-of-american-politics/678473/

MAGA morons. Pity poor Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), who on Thursday was humiliated into voting against his own border security bill. In any event, even Lankford voted against advancing his own problem-solving legislation this time. Bizarrely, he blamed Democrats for allegedly forcing his hand, even though it was his own party who had despoiled his bill’s chances of passing. “It’s trying to score political points rather than actually trying to solve a problem,” Lankford said of Democrats’ attempt to turn his own proposals into law. You know you’re a great negotiator when you wring concessions out of your opponent and then refuse to accept them. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/05/23/border-security-immigration-bill-lankford-senate/
