This will drive the crazed MAGA GOPers nuts. I hope GU is going to provide enhanced security for Dr. Fauci. Fauci, former face of U.S. covid response, to join Georgetown faculty Anthony S. Fauci, who retired from the National Institutes of Health in December after helping two presidents navigate the covid-19 pandemic, plans to join the faculty at Georgetown University on July 1, according to the university. Fauci, 82, will teach medicine and public policy as a “distinguished university professor,” a title that recognizes “extraordinary achievement in scholarship, teaching and service,” Georgetown said in a statement to be released Monday. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2023/06/26/fauci-georgetown-teach-covid/

Oh Christ. Expect the video from that GU event in 2017 or whenever it was where he predicts the Trump Administration will be confronted with a pandemic to go from "viral among the Q Anon types" to fully viral among the online Right.
There's plenty of things to find fault with in his performance over the pandemic, but it was an incredibly hard job to try to perform given the administration in question, and his career encompasses so much more than Covid. I'm sure students will learn a great deal from him.
Welcome home, doc!

And hey, if nothing else, this serves as a great reminder that significant portions of the PC fanbase are completely deranged.

How do you split three games? Should it say that the team split its final six games?

How do you split three games? Should it say that the team split its final six games? That could be. It may be consistent with winning 3 of their last 5 games as reported here. Fauci scored a team-high 203 points during his senior year of 1958. Regis went just 5-18, though the squad evidently played its best ball down the stretch, winning three of its final five games. Two thoughts from the broadcast, well, three.
1. Katty Kay is not a particularly incisive interviewer. Fauci's story at NIH is much more than COVID-19, and did there really need to be people peeking around every doorway?
2. The area around Healy Circle looks awful. Between the aging concrete and the swamp-like nature of the lawn when it rains, this area needs to be given a full renovation.
3. I find it disappointing that, given all he has accomplished, Fauci says he doesn't "need" the Catholic faith anymore because his ego has told him he's already made it. Just as one doesn't get a medical degree and proclaim they don't need to learn medicine anymore, Catholicism is not a program where you're confirmed and that's it. Spiritual fitness takes a lifetime of work just as physical fitness does--even if one isn't in the best of shape, you still get up every morning and you strive to do better, which is what keeps people from falling into the trap of arrogance. As such, he came across as polite but not altogether humble in that interview.

A 4th thought is that he is shorter for a HS basketball player than I believed.
And following DFW's lead, Dr. Fauci believes in physical workouts every day, but he neglects the spiritual workouts. You don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Not that you ever stop missing people, but it's conversations like this where you wish Easy Ed was around to weigh in.
