The thing is now that we have a legit coach, I don't worry as much about the individual talents of any one player/recruit. The key is how it all fits together. And yes someone's desire to be here and the commitment to being all-in is obviously a big plus. Along with unselfishness and a winning mentality.
Don't get me wrong you still need top talent, but I trust Cooley - and staff - has a vision of the final product he wants and how the puzzle pieces fit.
Add in the DC buzz as a major intangible. If we get a bunch of DMV kids with that local pride it would be a wonderful thing.

In addition to talent, we seem to be getting unselfish and smart kids from strong families................who want to be at Georgetown for a variety of reasons. THAT is a pretty good recipe for success in my book!

THAT is a pretty good recipe for success in my book! I'm not sure what exactly a strong family is, but players from any family setup can and have been successful.

I think he is insinuating that it is not a family with Uncles & handlers with annoying social media presences. Aminu, Wahab, Akinjo all had that swirling around them. Now there were also good families that we got the past five to six years that just got fed up and I would put Riley in that camp. At the end of the day, I wish families would just cheer for their kid. Some do that thru social a bit too much for my taste but I'm old and find social media vapid & stupid 95% of the time. McKenna, Fielder, Mulready, Williams, Sorber all seem pretty great to me right now. That is a core that if it sticks for four years, can do something special.

Nothing controversial about the phrase strong family... A strong family is a strong family regardless of what the composition of make up may be. Hard time understanding why folks on this board are always looking to stir the pot.

Caleb appears to come from a Grant Hill type of family. But this current head coach knows better than to pull out Green Eggs and Ham. 😀 As for the core you mentioned…look if they live up to their potential they won’t all stick around for four years. Nor should you want them too. Not in this current collegiate environment. You want them, at least a couple, to be legitimately good enough to leave early.

Wait. Boya told me Caleb was not even rankable. ESPN must see something different in Williams than two of the top rankings sites that don't have him in the top 150.
