Jack DeGioia and Lee Reed owe this kid the most sparkling letter of reference they have ever written + 2 or 3 phone calls. He stayed four years with not a single peep or complaint on social media, he's going to graduate and save the program some desperately needed APR despite everything the program put him through. If he wants to go to Harvard or Yale or Penn or Columbia or wherever - they need to make that happen.

I'd assume he's graduating, and will play while working on a graduate degree.
So not an Ivy. But I'd guess he'll have his choice of other top academic schools.

I'd assume he's graduating, and will play while working on a graduate degree. This is quite common in womens soccer - grad transfer to a new team. In this case, keeps his options open to work on an advanced degree on someone else's dime.

I have great respect for this kid who has been selfless and dedicated to the program. Hoping for a great final season wherever he ends up.

Wouldn't he be eligible for need-based aid like all the other Ivy League athletes? I doubt Stanford, Vandy, Northwestern, etc. will be knocking down his door to get him on their basketball rosters.

I don't think the Ivy League allows for graduate student players, unless they changed their rules over the last couple years. Perhaps he could find a school that's down a level basketball wise but still pretty strong academically. Rice? William & Mary? Maybe somewhere in the UC system? And you never know, it's not inconceivable that a school like Stanford or Cal or Northwestern has a scholarship opening and wants a 7 footer to round out the roster. You can do worse than a 7 foot tall high academic/high character kid as your 12th or 13th man. As others have said, rooting hard for his future success--great kid who represented us very well and stuck it out through some tough times.

Ivy rules don't allow grad students to play. that's why so many Ivy players transfer out for their 5th year.

Wishing him well as he just kept working while incompetency ran rampant.
Doesn’t he have 2 years of eligibility left also? I wonder what grad degree he will go for and agree above that stanford, Berkeley, etc could do a lot worse for their 13th man who is very obviously a good guy who hustles. Rice is also a great option academically and they are moving up to the AAC next year

Mr. Wilson
Thank you for your service, sacrifice and humility. I wish you the best for next season and in your professional life. Please consider transferring to a school that will have you in the NCAA Tourney in 2024, as well as one that offers a great academic program.
He should get a Team Award for his actions. But I expect the other graduating players to be next to enter the Transfer Portal.

There were those in the Hoya fan base that were so blindly loyal to Ewing that they convinced themselves that Wilson didn’t want to keep playing basketball anymore but wanted to be a team manager. It’s amazing what logic people can convince themselves of when they become some enamored with one person. Sadly that is not confined to Hoya basketball.

I don't remember who made those arguments, but it was one of the most transparent attempts to defend Ewing when there was no basis for doing so.

Great luck to Malcolm, and I hope he enjoys his time in Charlotte, which is a nice place.

Happy for him. It's easy to go to practice every day and deal with all the rigors of being a student athlete at a high profile program when you play. I admire the kids who do this with no expectation of playing time and who don't get to read about their contributions following games. They are the backbone of any program.

Congrats to Malcolm. This move will get him closer to home and will allow him to get more playing time.

Congratulations to Malcolm. I wish him the very best. It seems to me that he could have been developed to be a much better player. I dont understand why he was not. Ill bet he was an excellent student.
