I notice that when someone says anything in defense of Ewing the wolves come out against them. Don’t be a coward stick to your point of view. 😂 If that poster said something good about Ewing, I missed it. In fact, I haven't seen much of anything positive said, even from your camp. I have heard reasons/excuses why it is premature to judge Ewing, or that the Hoyas are our team, good or bad, etc, but no full throated defense. Want to be the first to try it? I love Patrick Ewing and think he will right this ship. He is a worker, always has been, always will be. He is a man's man, comfortable in his own skin, an Alpha competitor and a good sport. I know the losing hurts, but he faces every day and every challenge with determination. I am rooting for him and the team with all of my heart, and truly feel sorry for everybody who can't see their way to doing the same thing.

I know the losing hurts, but he faces every day and every challenge with determination. I am rooting for him and the team with all of my heart, and truly feel sorry for everybody who can't see their way to doing the same thing. I will say I look with amazement on your insistence on being optimistic despite every fact associated with our program going against your belief that Ewing will right the ship that he pushed further down into the ocean. You must truly like Ewing with all your heart, as I do not understand any other way one could reach the opinion. In all seriousness, I do recognize that a lot of people associated with Georgetown basketball love Ewing, which makes this hard, but the facts are the facts. As far as a "man's man" and all that--that's sports fan fluff that might make some people feel good but gets the team nowhere. As far as being comfortable in his own skin, and an alpha competitor, and a good sport - even if one assumes all that is true (and I have no reason to dispute it), it's not the skill set needed to coach a basketball program. In a way, it makes it all the more damning. Guys like Mullin (or Drexler years ago at Houston) came under criticism for not working hard. That Ewing IS working hard and we still see no improvement tells me that the answer isn't to work harder at this point. It's to work differently, and Ewing has not proven he is capable of doing that yet...after 5+ seasons. That's really the problem. It's possible to acknowledge that Patrick Ewing is a Georgetown great, the best player to cross the program, while also acknowledging that his coaching stint so far hasn't been successful. I get that some people will never reach that point regardless of the results. As I've said before, the best way out of this problem would be for Ewing to turn it around suddenly, become a great coach, and lead us to many successful seasons. The unfortunate fact is that it's too late. Most fans have checked out, and those of us who are here (I guess except for you, and maybe hoyaroc) are essentially supporting our team, but treating it like it's on life support and thinking more about what comes next than having unrealistic hopes of turnarounds that aren't going to happen (if it does, I'll happily eat crow).

No need for "amazement", it is really quite simple. You and I are engaged in entirely different endeavors.
I am rooting for my beloved Georgetown Hoyas basketball team.
You and the other undead troll cultists are endlessly reposting the same bs you've been posting since last season. I presume this to be some kind of Syracuse bot farm, because if you were an actual person writing the stuff that you write day after day after day, it would be so hauntingly pathetic that I can't stand to consider the possibility.
Whatever, I did like the part where you credit yourself for supporting the team. Made me laugh, nice touch.

I want my alma mater to have a basketball program that alumni and fans can be proud of as a competitive, top notch, well run and coached program. I want a program that is competitive for the NCAA tournament every year as an at large bid. Now, we are in the 6th year of a coaching stint where the team hasn't even sniffed the NCAA tournament as an at large bid. If you have an argument that Patrick Ewing can do this beyond calling him a "man's man" or insisting that he simply will do it, I am willing to hear about it. But your inability to acknowledge basic facts about our failures over the last six years makes me think that you put your devotion to one man over the program. As for your questioning my support of the team, that's just absurd and not worth my time. Nor is your talk of "undead troll cultists" and a "Syracuse bot farm," which frankly makes no sense. Your posts like this violate Board rules too, so there's that.

It is apparent you have a man crush on Ewing, Monocles, but can't someone from your three-person camp point to something he does well AS A BASKETBALL COACH? Here are some suggestions for you to ponder. Recruiting? Retention? Game management, including substitution patterns? Developing a coherent and successful scheme on offense and defense? Public relations?

Much love to all Hoyas fans who still root for the program. We ought to be able to agree to disagree based on substance and without attacking each other. I am just grateful there is a Hoya game tomorrow. Best wishes to all and GO HOYAS!

I can't think of a single thing that Ewing has done to demonstrate he has any earthly idea how to turn things around. Try as he might, he has not been able to get the job done. Any other person, in any other job would have long since been fired. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Something has to change and when literally everything else but the head coach has changed, that's all that's left to do.

I am just grateful there is a Hoya game tomorrow. Best wishes to all and GO HOYAS! I just want to throw some kudos to you hoyalove4ever. You have been clear that you think coaches like Ewing should have a long window (8-10 years) to figure things out before moving on. And you've been consistent on this through both JT3 and Ewing. While I disagree with it, I understand your opinion and can see where you are coming from because you are open and honest about your position. You also respect those who disagree, do not call names, etc. That's what it's all about, and the root of civil discussion.

You and your ilk have thrown them under the bus from the very start of the season, and it is, again, pathetic. As far as the rules of this board, I noticed that none of you standup Hoyas fans held your patron saint koreshboya accountable for blithely stating that "Brandon Murray isn't here to win" or some such nonsense. You know why that is, 03? It is because y'all are only concerned with your daily dumbass affirmations about how the sky is falling. You should all absolutely be ashamed of yourselves. As far as coaching, no doubt, that is a tricky one for me to handle. Not really fair of you to ask... kidding! Yea, the pro-style aspects of our, um, style, seem to rely on a level of comfort amongst teammates that we have rarely seen in full bloom, due to the, um, above mentioned issues. A wide open flowing offensive game where people who can shoot must take and make open shots takes time to take flight. Last year's team was practically incapable of doing either, whereas this year's team has the shooters to maybe become dangerous as they become more and more familiar with each other. Obv, the Championship team of a year and a half ago really started to gel after their covid break, and became pretty good for a while at the end. As far as the man crush thing, I mean, of course, guilty as charged. The point of bringing that up is that Ewing leads his team by example, every day, by facing the challenge at hand, ignoring the noise, and working hard to achieve his goals. Last year's team never freaking won, but played every game with effort and determination. While I certainly don't give all of the credit for Aminu and DOn and Dante and Collin and Tim's cajones in this regard to Ewing, the team strove til the end, and I was very proud of them. I can certainly understand why people wanted to move on from Ewing last year, and have said so many times. That is no excuse to immediately quit on this team. I mean, sorry, Pitino might want this job, not that he would ever get it in a million years, but he is not going to leave Iona in mid-season to come here. Y'all are lunatics. Root foe the damn team

Go press some flowers or something. Volunteer at a food kitchen, get a life We can agree on wanting success badly! I do not hold the current players accountable for "the entire coaching tenure of Patrick Ewing," and I am not sure who does. In fact, I do not blame last year's roster either. I think that both last year and this year, our same roster--without any changes or additions--could have won/win more games with better coaching. Regardless of who you "blame," our guys simply aren't playing well together as a unit, and last year's roster did not either. Really, there is only one constant across the various rosters we have had, and it's not the players. I think the problem is that you are conflating (a) support for the current direction of the program with (b) support of the players. I have a lot of problems with (a), but I absolutely support and will continue rooting for our players. To his credit, Ewing brought in some nice pieces. No, they aren't perfect, but Akok is a really good player, so is Murray, and Spears (while having his down moments) is also a good player for us. While I do not live in DC, I do plan to go to the two games in the New York City metro area, and then the Big East tournament in March. My support of our players is not contingent on the identity of the coach. All that said, it really pains me to see the program at these depths and I want more for my program and my university. Are you an alumnus? If yes, I would hope you could see where I am coming from. Just as I want the university to succeed on the academic side and in other aspects, I want the same for our basketball program. And, at least for those of us here over the last 15 years, we know the good feeling of success. It's just been so long since we've gotten to experience it. It all goes back to our point of agreement - I want success badly! And I think that simply plowing ahead on the current course with no changes is not going to get us there. It hasn't for 5+ years, while it may have been enough in Year 1 or Year 2 of this staff, hope simply isn't enough at this point. People always refer to us as "becoming DePaul," but frankly, we are close to the point (if not already there) where people are going to start saying they don't want their program to be like Georgetown. That makes me sad, and that's why I feel so strongly about making changes. I don't understand why you cannot just respond to posts without throwing around insults, telling people to "get a life," etc. You're not doing your position any favors in doing so. Though you're probably right that I should stop wasting time on these exchanges.

Okay, but why not just focus on the team trying to turn the corner here? Honestly, it isn't going to make one bit of difference in the long run whether or not people rend their flesh on HoyaTalk multiple times each day. It is such a ridiculous exercise. Not to mention the fact that you know damn well if Brandon Murray were to read this stuff he would not think all of this shrieking about Ewing is supportive at all. Do not even try it. And, to try and preempt your inevitable "lowering the bar" argument, no, I prefer more of a Justice Stewart take, we will know it when we see it. The obsession with the supposed fans on this site to whip out their asinine KPop ratings and predict the outcome of each game and the season because Lord knows we can't be bothered to actually watch the damn games or anything is another scab scratching idiocy that grows like kudzu in an unhealthy aquatic ecosystem. ahem

Ah, more agreement! Yes, you should absolutely NOT post here multiple times each day. It is a sickness! And yes, it is 100% worthy of my scorn and deserves pushback! 97 and you and boya are the pied pipers of making this site a morose death march, and I take great satisfaction in dropping drawers and depositing all over each of you to the best of my ability. You deserve it!
