Fourth Circuit affirms rejection of MAGA GOP voter suppression effort. On to the corrupt SCOTUS. In the perverse autocratic world of the MAGA GOP it matters not whether it wins or loses suits like this. Even if it loses, it's a false predicate to argue fraudulent election. Virginia appeals court strikes down effort to purge suspected noncitizen voters A federal appeals court on Sunday upheld the ruling of a Virginia judge who struck down an effort from state officials to automatically cancel voter registrations of suspected noncitizens, pointing to a federal law that prohibits states from purging voters 90 days before a presidential election. The decision in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit comes after U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles on Friday rejected arguments from attorneys for Attorney General Jason S. Miyares (R) and Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who signed an executive order Aug. 7 to expedite the removal of registered voters who checked a box on their driver’s license applications indicating that they were not U.S. citizens. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/10/27/youngkin-voting-purge-appeals-court-noncitizens/

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is suing to stop a $1 million daily giveaway from Elon Musk’s pro-Trump political group, saying the contest is “indisputably an unlawful lottery” that violates Pennsylvania’s consumer protection laws.
The Justice Department last week had warned Musk’s group, America PAC, that the contest could be illegal, but the group has continued awarding a daily $1 million prize to registered voters in one of seven swing states who sign a petition to support free speech and the right to bear arms. -- WaPo, 10/28/24

As much as I believe that Trump is capable of faking an assassination attempt, I'm not letting myself get pulled into this conspiratorial rabbit hole. There's plenty of glaringly obvious disqualifying material about the guy without needing to get hyped up about a (potential) expose of a faked attack. That said, I'm all for a more thorough/public investigation of the event.

After yesterday‘s Nazi call to arms this seems prudent.

The number of bomb threats called into Democratic strongholds on Election Day will be off the charts. People need to be ready. This is what trying to steal an election looks like, not whatever fantasy Republicans have cooked up about Democrats.

I personally love that “comedian”. One of my new favorites. I don’t think he could have done more to turn out the Latino vote for Harris. Bad Bunny posted the “joke” with a backing for Harris. He’s a hugely popular figure in the Puerto Rican community. Great work guys, great work. I wish he did drop the c-bomb and found a way to somehow alienate more women.

I have to assume this liar also has fake family values. MAGA GOPers are vile despicable liars and hypocrites. A ‘fake family’ photo takes center stage in battleground House race STAFFORD, Va. — The attack ad in Virginia’s most competitive congressional race starts off like something out of a sitcom. An actor resembling Derrick Anderson, a Republican looking to flip Virginia’s battleground 7th District, comes home to greet life-size cardboard cutouts of a woman and three young girls. The stand-in Anderson eats dinner with the pictures, plays board games across the table from them and then joins them to watch a movie. It was a biting callout to an image that has dogged the former Army Green Beret for the past month: Anderson, who recently got engaged and does not have kids, shot campaign footage this year that showed him posing with the wife and three daughters of a friend — a scene that critics pounced on as giving the false impression he was the patriarch of the nuclear family. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/10/28/derrick-anderson-congress-virginia-7th-district-vindman/
