For all of you who have twitter accounts, do you plan on keeping your accounts active? I would like nothing more than for twitter to absolutely crash and burn. The best part of this is how Musk has backed himself into a corner with his nonsense “free speech absolutism”. Sure, he can do that and watch every single advertiser pull out, with the possibility that it is removed from app stores for poor content moderation (like the Trump one). Or be forced to moderate content in order to maintain advertisers and watch all his troglodyte worshippers turn on him for not fulfilling his promise. Either way, twitter is in for a ride. Sure, it could take democracy down, but it, and Musk, are going to suffer deeply along the way. Musk has become a cartoonish super-villain at this point, somehow convinced that he’s actually the good guy.

The debt service on Twitter will run him off the road. From $51 million in debt service in 2021, Twitter will now need to generate $1 billion next year to pay the note, never mind a profit that it has never made. As advertisers move off the platform and people balk at paying $20 for a check-box designation, Musk has to either pick up lots of revenues from the My Pillow and 4chan crowd, or he will literally sink in debt. At that point the banks and hedge funds will pull the social media version of the margin call.
The Twitter code isn't rocket science. A competitor could start up at any time.

If karma is a thing, this will happen.

If karma is a thing, this will happen. That was always going to be the case, layoffs or no layoffs. Musk wants less fact checking and more allowance for misinformation and hate speech. Hopefully, people keep abandoning the platform.

The destruction of Twitter, be it inadvertent or designed will be the greatest act of public service in a very long time.
Too many people feel empowered and damn near obligated to share every inane thought they have the moment they have it.
That’s what Hoyatalk is for.
