Indiana just offered you a scholarship. How did that come about and what have you been hearing from IU? “Kenya Hunter reached out to me and I had talked to him before briefly and then he put me on the phone with the head coach, Mike Woodson, and we just talked about how much they like my game and he ended up offering me (a scholarship).” You’ve received offers recently from Villanova, Georgetown, Georgia Tech and a couple of others. What’s it been like seeing your recruitment take off this summer and also getting an offer from Indiana? “The whole recruiting situation, I’ve just been embracing the moment. I watched my two older brothers go through it, so just for it to finally be my turn, it’s a dream come true. The Indiana offer, I know they’re a big-time basketball program. I’ve seen guys like Victor Oladipo and Xavier Johnson, I sort of have a connection with through Team Takeover, perform with Indiana. Just seeing how big of a basketball program they are, it definitely means a lot that they believe in me.” www.insidethehall.com/2022/08/03/q-a-class-of-2024-wing-caleb-williams-discusses-indiana-offer/

Kid is a Kyle Anderson clone. Maybe not as good of a passer but a better shooter.

College coaches have taken notice of the four-star wing. On3 recently caught up with Caleb Williams to talk about the state of his recruitment. “I took early visits to Maryland, Virginia, and Virginia Tech,” Williams said. “All three schools have shown me a tremendous amount of love since we started talking,” Williams said. “That played a big role in me wanting to go visit.” Maryland: ” They have had a lot of pros come out of their program. I enjoyed learning about Coach (Kevin) Willard’s plans to make Maryland successful.” Virginia: “Obviously, the program is very successful; the visit helped me get to know Coach (Tony) Bennett. He seemed very genuine and was all fact-based.” Virginia Tech: “I got to see how Coach (Mike) Young has quickly been able to turn the program around. They told me about his success at Wofford, where he was before.” “I’m working on setting up a visit with Michigan,” Williams said. “I want to take some more as the year goes on but haven’t worked to set any up yet.” www.on3.com/news/2024-caleb-williams-breaks-down-recruitment-as-things-heat-up/

Thought I'd share this recently published player evaluation. It's equipped with nearly 70 film clips and a ton of detail and insight on his game, coachability, feel/IQ, and intangibles. Caleb Williams Player Evaluation

Washington (DC) Sidwell Friends School 2024 forward Caleb Williams has taken two official visits his junior year. Williams has visited Michigan and Indiana and has not planned any future visits as of yet. “Indiana and Michigan were my two officials and I have nothing planned yet,” he said. “I’m thinking about taking a couple after the season, but I’m not thinking about it much during the season.” Outside of Michigan and Indiana, Williams has also been hearing a lot from Miami, Villanova, Virginia and Maryland. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Caleb-Williams-Michigan-Indiana-247sports-203347249/

Hope for his sake and the conference's the kid follows Josh Hart and Saddiq Bey to Villanova (and then the NBA), and not Terrence Williams (Gonzaga), Hunter Dickinson (Dematha) and Dug McDaniel (Paul VI) to Michigan.

Caleb one of the 8 “players to watch” in today’s Wash Post (p. D.7), noting he will “lead one of the most talented rosters in the area.” Sidwell ranked #2 in initial Post rankings, behind uber-loaded Paul VI. Of note, the two teams meet at 8pm this coming Sunday Dec 10 at Dematha in what will be the finale of that annual showcase..

If he's putting up 41 on a Big 10 team he's not a walkon. Can we get a different thread for this guy though? One Caleb Williams is committed to our program and deserves his own thread.
