Maybe there’s another son… He has Junior and three daughters. I don't know why on earth you demote Orr for a losing coach with no DC ties whose recruits are midmajor level unless you are getting Patrick Baldwin Jr in the deal. This makes absolutely no sense. And yet if Jr. was part of the package deal you would be all indignant about the hire.

Are we sure Patrick Baldwin Jr is not going to be returning to college? Did he enter the portal? That scenario is really the only one that'd explain this. Patrick Baldwin the coach does not solve any need - defensive system, DC recruiting, major incoming recruit, unless PBJ is coming along for the ride. He solves one major need, something new for people to whine about on Hoyatalk!

We may have to start considering the possibility that Ewing is not a strategic mastermind.

We may have to start considering the possibility that Ewing is not a strategic mastermind. I don't think Ewing actually gets to pick his assistants.

Gonna be honest, when I first saw that we hired him I thought “Wow we’re probably going to get Jr.” And then I remembered that the draft is almost here and the time to withdraw passed a while ago and I thought “Ok so…why?” Hope it turns out to be a great hire Actually had the same thoughts initially but a different interpretation. Even though Jr. is a great player this smells of sleaze. Well, I quickly learned Jr. is not part of the hire. Would love to have Jr. but not this way.

He receives $4M/year for completely failing at his job - and he keeps that job despite going winless in the conference and embarassing the university off the court.

Yeah, it’s true he has been able to exploit a broken system. I guess he’s got a shrewd business sense. His basketball mind leaves a lot to be desired.

I am reminded of Austin Powers saying…”as long as I can live in a consequence-free environment, I’ll be sound as a pound” In DeGioia land, Patrick has found that…

Ewing is definitely smarter than you guys. He’s able to have you spend your time discussing his salary. No real man who has a successful career waste his time discussing another man money or job security on a daily basis unless he has no life whatsoever.
