Not sure what that means. I am a fan, so I try to support the program. I do not enjoy zero Big East wins more than anyone else- it stinks. I just see it as my duty to provide support through thick (1984) and thin (2022). You have to be unwavering in both moments for it to mean anything, in my respectful viewpoint. I wish I could make more games- few people cheer louder than I do. It was props to you! And RT should pay for your tickets to incentivize your drive up from NC for every game. The more, the merrier…

Let the countdown begin! 30 days to the 22-23 season opener vs. Coppin State!
If I could remember the title of the 21-22 season thread, I would get it going for 22-23, esp. as the current "state of the program" thread is well over 300 pages. I defer to those who like to be thread starters. Let's go!

13. Northwestern Northwestern has now finished under .500 in five straight seasons since going to the NCAA tournament in 2017. The Wildcats didn’t feel that far off from being in the postseason mix a season ago, but a 5–12 record in games decided by single digits did them in and put Chris Collins onto the hot seat heading into 2022–23. This group will rely heavily on its veteran backcourt, headlined by senior point guard Boo Buie, who at his best is one of the top floor generals in the conference. But consistency from Buie and Chase Audige is a must, especially with a rough-looking frontcourt thanks to the early departures of Pete Nance (North Carolina) and Ryan Young (Duke). www.si.com/college/2022/10/19/big-ten-basketball-rankings-illinois-indiana-michigan-iowa

"Northwestern gave coach Chris Collins at least another year to turn around his struggling program after the final buzzer sounded last March. The Wildcats are counting on an experienced backcourt to help them end a string of losing seasons. And they're hoping their big men can fill the void after Pete Nance and Ryan Young left for North Carolina and Duke. “We’re going to go as our perimeter goes,” Collins said. “I mean, that’s where the strength of our team lies.” Athletic director Derrick Gragg, then in his first year, opted to bring back Collins with a mandate to make changes. And there might not be a coach sitting on a hotter seat, with the Wildcats set to open against Chicago State on Nov. 7. Collins shuffled his staff, adding longtime Kansas State assistant and former Southern Illinois coach Chris Lowery. Former Wildcats star Bryant McIntosh is now an assistant coach after three seasons as assistant director of basketball operations. www.kentucky.com/sports/article267547857.html#storylink=cpy

"If you can’t tell, I hate this roster. When you’re returning 15 percent of your production from the previous year, you’d better be willing to either swallow a rebuilding year or bring in some impact players from the transfer portal. Instead, South Carolina has a disappointment from Ohio State, a guy who barely got off the bench at Illinois, and a couple of intriguing mid-major guys who probably aren’t impact players at this level. Several of those will probably start for this team. They also have a player who will probably go in the first few picks of the 2023 NBA Draft, and I can’t understate how much that’s worth. Still, looking at the rest of this team, it’s hard to see how G.G. Jackson alone is enough to make this team good. But it’s easy to see how Jackson makes this team not terrible. Guys who are 6’9” and can do the things he can do on a basketball court do not simply grow on trees. We’ll see how the Lamont Paris era goes; this season, though, is likely going to be a struggle. I have South Carolina just narrowly avoiding last place — mostly because of the presence of G.G. Jackson." www.anchorofgold.com/2022/10/19/23413248/south-carolina-lunges-for-the-reset-button-but-at-least-they-have-a-five-star

Wouldn't read too much into any result as they are still a work in progress

Wouldn't read too much into any result as they are still a work in progress While I don't disagree. Last year the scrimmage leaks were that we lost to Temple by double digits. And then got run out of the gym by UVA. That certainly ended up being prophetic.

While I don't disagree. Last year the scrimmage leaks were that we lost to Temple by double digits. And then got run out of the gym by UVA. That certainly ended up being prophetic. Pretty sure that was sarcasm by KG Based on the small sample size of last year - these preseason scrimmages are 100% predictive! It was a concern when news came out that Temple beat us fairly convincingly last preseason. then it was downright shocking to hear that UVA destroyed us in the second scrimmage. But that's the team we clearly turned out to be. So if the word comes out that we get our butts kicked in either of the scrimmages, that's going to kill any optimism I have for the upcoming season. Probably not a particularly reasonable approach on my part. but as a result of the trauma of last season, it is going to require a lot of wins this season before I have any faith at all that we can be a competitive team.
