So another guy goes to a directional state university.
Doesn’t that speak volumes about what leve of player we have been bringing in?

I think it speaks more to the lack of development under Ewing & Co.’s leadership. Most of the guys transferring out have been 3* recruits who would never have been available to Southeast Missouri State, Eastern Michigan, Pacific, UTEP, etc. out of high school.

You can find a couple surprises in that range from time to time but on average that's not a player that's going to have an impact at a hm as a freshman. Most of the guys around that range got redshirted last season and the leading scorer out of the kids I looked at between 216-330 was Rafael Pinzon at 3.2 ppg. As a guy who watches an unhealthy amount of hs basketball I can say with complete confidence our recruiting has been below average. That's on the coach as well so I don't get this particular line of attack tbh

Quick question - what was the rank of Billingsley’s class that included Aminu and Jordan compared to the peers in the BE and the nation?

Probably pretty descent but the thing about recruiting rankings are they’re skewed by size. A 5 man class of average players will generally rank higher than a 2 man class of impact guys. Look at our roster last year this way. Out of 13 scholarship players 9-13 were either unranked or had a ranking in the 200’s or below. Here’s the breakdown: 5 were unranked. 2 were close to 400 or below. 2 were in the 200’s. Aminu was the only top 100 kid. The last 3 were all freshman ranked in the 100-150 range. That’s really weak for a hm team imo.

Good luck to him and the rest of the transfers. This is just my opinion, but if kids don't get playing time, I think they lose their luster very quickly in the transfer market. They are not the bright and shiny recruits putting up numbers in HS and in AAU games ... they are guys who didn't start and didn't get more than 10 minutes per game for the bottom of the barrel Big East ... it's really no surprise that they move down. It'll be interesting to see where Holloway and Carey end up ... I still can't believe that soon to be 23 year old Don Carey thinks playing another year in college is good idea, but perhaps with his shooting numbers a real contender might throw him some NIL $$$

Wishcasting on recruits has a long and storied tradition here. It’s part of fandom. I’m more interested in why he left because I think he would have a role. Of course, we will never know that.

Of course it is - but it's completely hypocritical to hype up guys when we're recruiting them, then come back when they leave and say they were never that good in the first place. It's a classic move used by the Ewing/Thompson-first fans.

I try not to be too critical of players on a public forum but anyone who has talked to me privately knows I didn't expect much from him early and had many reservations about him. There's also this post that you conveniently left of for some reason? On the above quotes that you listed I don't see anything wrong with what I wrote. I would write the same things today. You don't need to be a high leaper to be a good 3 point shooter and anybody can see the kid does have some tools and could end up being a good player if he works at it. The problem has always been his work ethic and that's something I'm sure you saw me allude to multiple times in that thread.

Trying to couch it as a Georgetown exclusive is a big stretch.
