The more I think about this hire, the worse it seems, not only from an ethical and journalistic integrity standpoint, but from a business standpoint. Who is this hire for? Democrats hate her because she is a lying insurrectionist who can’t be trusted, establishment republicans hate her because she is too MAGA and has enabled the MAGA cult and can’t be trusted, and (to a lesser extent, because they love to be outright lied to by Fox, OAN, and Newsmax) the MAGA cult hate her because they don’t think she’s drunk enough of the MAGA cult brand kool-aid and can’t be trusted. Just like the CNN town hall, someone should get fired for making a terrible business decision. NBC has alienated the first two groups (you know, the only people who watch their networks) and won’t make converts out of the third group. Just pure business stupidity icing on an ethically fraught cake.

The reliably anti-Grifter "Morning Joe" has savaged her for dropping the Romney name, among other things. Let's see if the lying POS appears there to be savaged on the air. Will make for WWE TV!

MTP - WWE TV with Welker v. Romney McDaniel smackdown. Such BS. The fact that NBC let's this election denier on the air is disgusting. Moron executives who hired her should be fired. Normalizing the chief propagandist for the MAGA GOP Former Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel faced brutal criticism during her first NBC appearance Sunday since the network hired her as a political analyst, including tough questioning about her failure to push back against former president Donald Trump’s baseless claims of election fraud and visceral aggravation from journalists who said her hiring raised “credibility issues” for NBC. In an intrview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” McDaniel, who stepped down from the RNC this month, was not asked about the firestorm from critics who said her newly announced role as a paid contributor was unethical due to her work to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Kristen Welker, the show’s host, said McDaniel’s interview was scheduled weeks before her hiring was announced. She added, “This will be a news interview, and I was not involved in her hiring.” But minutes later, a panel of journalists on the show questioned the credibility of her answers and laid into NBC executives for their decision to hire someone who had long attacked the network. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/24/ronna-mcdaniel-nbc-meet-the-press/

In theory, it’s a smart move for a television news organization in an election year: snap up the recently ousted head of the Republican National Committee (RNC) as an on-air commentator before competing networks get the chance. In practice — when the talking head in question is longtime election denier Ronna McDaniel — not so much. My inbox and social media feeds have been deluged by viewers asking why NBC would even consider hiring McDaniel, who during her seven-year tenure turned the RNC into an instrument of Trump’s whims and grievances. As far as I’m concerned, she lost all credibility back in 2020, at the Republican National Convention, when she had the party decline to produce a platform laying out its policy views — and instead just pledged to support Trump’s agenda, whatever that might be. One theory is that the network, like some other large companies and institutions, is trying to position itself for the possibility that Trump will win in November. I’m not sure that makes sense, though. For one thing, McDaniel’s stock has crashed in Trumpworld and she is on the outs. It was Trump who orchestrated her defenestration at the RNC, replacing her with a tandem that includes an even more loyal lackey alongside Trump’s daughter-in-law. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/25/nbc-rnc-ronna-mcdaniel-tv/

Ronna, we hardly knew ye! Bye bye !! She lasted 1/2 of a Scaramucci! Now NBC should fire whoever hired the lying POS. NBC reverses decision to hire Ronna McDaniel after on-air backlash Amid a chorus of on-air protest from some of the network’s biggest stars, NBC announced Tuesday night that former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel will no longer be joining the network as a paid contributor. In a memo, NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde told staff he had listened to “the legitimate concerns” of many network employees. “No organization, particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned,” he wrote. “Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal.” www.washingtonpost.com/style/media/2024/03/26/nbc-drops-ronna-mcdaniel-backlash/
