Trump won Iowa in the 2016 general, 2020 general and the 2024 primary. That's three. Yesterday was the primary, not the general. He was talking about the primary. That’s Trump’s way of making MAGAs forget about the Ted Cruz shellacking in 2016.

The refusal of MSNBC to air the obviously newsworthy event of Trump's Iowa victory speech is one of the darkest chapters in the history of the first amendment of the United States. From now on, no Republican office holder should ever appear on the clearly and Un shamefully partisan censoring MSNBC network. This was a truly sad and tragic day for America's fourth estate. No broadcast entity, with the possible exception of C-SPAN, is under obligation to broadcast any political content. Does Fox News or Newsmax cover every Biden speech? Editorial decisions are not censorship.

Editorial decisions are not censorship. HH79's understanding of the First Amendment is lacking. I wonder if he believes that Colin Kaepernick's purported First Amendment rights were violated by the 49ers or the NFL? As to C- SPAN I don't believe that it is obligated to carry any particular content as it is a privately-funded nonprofit that receives neither government funding nor taxpayer dollars. Moreover, its coverage is not governed by any contractual agreement with the Congress but is purely voluntary. We are a non-profit created in 1979 by a then-new industry called cable television, and today we remain true to our founding principles, providing gavel-to-gavel coverage of the workings of the U.S. Congress, both the House and Senate, all without editing, commentary or analysis. Underpinning this impartial, balanced coverage is the fact that no government or taxpayer dollars support C-SPAN, as we continue to be funded as a public service from your cable or satellite provider. When the House and Senate are in session, C-SPAN commits to covering both bodies live and in their entirety. This is a voluntary commitment; there is no contract with Congress to carry its proceedings. www.c-span.org/about/history/

This is the dumbest thing ever posted on Hoyatalk. Unsurprising that its author is a Trump sycophant. Bathe in your ignorance, happyhoya1979.

This would be hilarious if it weren't so sad. Is this a "darker chapter" than the very existence of Fox as a propaganda network for which they've been rightfully fined? As they say, ignorance is bliss and, clearly, he's a happyhoya.

"The Founders intended Freedom of Speech to promote understanding and civic virtue, not undermine them." Arthur Milikh wrote these words in a National Review article years ago. Denying others their right to free speech, or the public their right to hear the words of another through overt censorship and the characterization of the remarks as untruthful before they are even spoken is destructive to the spirit and goodwill needed to have an effective media in a country. MSNBC may be within its editorial rights but it is undermining the basis of a free press in America. One can take as much airtime as you like to attack/refute/deride/rebut the content but censorship and promoting darkness rather than light is never ok in America. You don't promote freedom of thought by denying and censoring others' freedom of thought.

promoting darkness rather than light is never ok in America. You are an unabashed Trump supporter. You might want to consider your own words.

If so, you're badly in need of a neurologist, a psychiatrist or both. I'd also, if I were you, get an MRI just to be safe. Also, where was the censorship? Should MSNBC be airing every word that lying sack of crap has to say in your view? Also, FWIW, you were bringing up the censorship thing after Trump's speech. No one characterized his speech as untruthful before hearing it. We heard it. And, guess what? I'm sure even you can get this one right... I guess Fox being a blatant propaganda arm for the former Republican party isn't good enough for you? All stations should be required to air lies and nonsense just because you think it's news?

What do you have to say about the Fake News Network, OAN and Newsmax?

Congrats "Republicans" - the Insurrectionist's minor propaganda network was hard at work. CNN — In the wake of the 2020 election, the president of the far-right network One America News sent a potentially explosive email to former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell, with a spreadsheet claiming to contain passwords of employees from the voting technology company Smartmatic, according to court filings. The existence of the spreadsheet was recently disclosed by Smartmatic, which is suing OAN for defamation. CNN pieced together who was involved in the email exchanges by examining court records from three separate cases stemming from the 2020 election. Lawyers from Smartmatic told a federal judge that the email, and the attached spreadsheet, suggest OAN executives “may have engaged in criminal activities” because they “appear to have violated state and federal laws regarding data privacy.” www.cnn.com/2024/01/29/business/oan-smartmatic-election-lawsuit/index.html
