What Georgetown is getting Bass plays with a lot of length and pop in his game. His production lies on the defensive side, where he uses his length and athleticism in the passing lanes. Offensively, Bass has good vision and can be an aggressive straight-line driver. As he continues to develop the range on his jump shot, he will pair that with his wing handle and vision. While Bass never named a top group, he claimed offers from South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia Tech along the way. Georgetown still has offers out to four-stars Favour Aire and Paul McMillan, along with three-stars Bryce Lindsay and Shy Odom. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/georgetown-lands-three-star-d-ante-bass

What struck me is that he just knows what to do with the ball—instinctively!

Mr. Bass: I welcome you to the Hoyas family. I am so happy you decided to come you Georgetown because:
Of your skills on the court and what you bring
Of your love for the game
Of your spoken belief for a better future
Of your observed intelligence about the game and it’s fans
Please know that I know, as one great writer once wrote, there is no path to Happiness, Happiness is the path! I am honored to share that path with you and the team! Again, Welcome!! 💕🙏🏽

“I've been maintaining a consistent relationship with coach Kirby since last November and it's just been real good and real consistent.” “They're just genuine people and good people,” he continued. “I asked around, I asked other students and other players how everything was there. How the school is, the do’s and the don'ts of the school, and everything I needed to do to be successful in the system and after that I just felt like I could see myself prospering and doing well there.” “They also have a lot of resources with Coach Ewing being a Hall of Famer. Just a lot of different things that I always thought about doing but I never had the platform or atmosphere to do it, but now I feel like I have that opportunity to do anything because I'm around so many different people.” Bass is currently ranked No. 251 according to the industry generated 247Sports composite ranking. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Georgetown-commit-DAnte-Bass-174567582/

Throughout the recruiting process, it became abundantly clear that Bass was one of Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing’s primary targets. Ewing, a Hoya legend and member of the NBA Hall of Fame, visited Savannah himself to watch Bass workout and also welcomed the Windsor Forest senior to campus earlier this week. Bass also received offers from the likes of Xavier, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. www.wsav.com/sports/g-town-bound-windsor-forest-basketball-star-dante-bass-commits-to-georgetown/

I expect he’ll make a jump in the rankings after his senior season. Will be interesting to see how much.

Interesting thread from South Carolina message board, appears to be commentary from someone claiming to be D'Ante's sibling as of March 2021: "A week or two ago, I mentioned that my brother was a pretty good 2022 basketball prospect with offers from Xavier, UGA, Georgetown, and Virginia Tech (and that our staff hasn't contacted, but that's neither here nor there)...Proud to say he's advancing to his first GHSA Final Four after his school defeated Salem, out of Conyers, GA. Here's a link to the article. And links to a couple of his dunks Regardless of wherever he ends up, super proud of the kid. It's always a blessing when your natural gifts and talents can take you places (not to mention the high probability of no student loan debt, etc.) Thanks!...The crazy thing is it's all natural too. Like he doesn't go to a trainer or use the vertimax or anything. He can really take off if/when he gets to the next level He doesn't have a favorite school that he grew up loving or anything like that. With that being said, SC is WAY behind as far as relationship building. He doesn't want to play the traditional 4 role, which is understandable considering his weight, ball handling, and ability to knock down jumpers. He had at least 3 3-pointers last night. Will see if I can dig up some film from last night He said he likes VT. His mom thinks he's leaning Georgia but he's intentionally playing things really close to the vest. I expect more offers to come in though if he does well on the AAU circuit this summer (Atlanta Celtics) That's what I was wondering too. He hasn't heard ANYTHING from USC. Even the coaches that didn't offer... He at least has their contact info because they reached out. I get it, if they don't like the film. If they don't know that he exists, then that's an entirely different story." 247sports.com/college/south-carolina/Board/44/Contents/OT-Proud-Big-Brother-161831932/?page=1

Saying recruiting rankings are inaccurate and it's impossible to rank so many kids accurately and then projecting your own opinion on how underrated a kid is always makes me laugh. As inaccurate and at times flawed and biased as 247 or rivals rankings are, you have to give the benefit of the doubt to professionals and their analytics over board posters. I still don't put a ton of stock in it, however. Seems somewhat undersrized for the 4 but not quite skilled or quick enough for the 2/3. If he can work on his touch and shooting then he could be a nice player in the Big East. Solid athlete.

Were they right about Isaac Copeland being a top 20 player in his class? For every kid you convince yourself is underrated, somebody must be overrated. I'm not criticizing fans for this because every fanbase does this to themselves but it's a ridiculous thing to say every kid you recruit is super underrated and going to be a star. He's ranked in the 200s because that is the best guess the recruiting professionals have based on what is most likely a limited sample size. He could turn out to be an NBA player in three years or he could transfer to Towson after a year and never be heard from again. We don't know. What we do know is it's not helpful to convince yourself that guys on your team are good just because you like the team. Convincing ourselves that we have landed a gem in an unheralded recruit that seems to not have been very seriously pursued by any other major conference program (couldn't find any recent articles with comments on other schools, and he never even listed finalists) is a St. John's mindset. Going out and recruiting the best DMV talent and supplementing it with guys from around the country that fit into a coherent style of play needs to be the Georgetown mindset. This kid seems to have a fantastic mindset and motor and I hope he turns into a solid contributor. Do I think that is the most likely thing to happen given what information is available to us? No. I love watching basketball and rooting on my Hoyas, but I don't have a ton of faith in the program right now and I think a healthy level of skepticism is needed. A higher level of acceptance of the fact that even though they are super flawed, the scouts making the rankings know more than we do would be helpful.

Last Hoya to transfer to Towson turned out to be pretty damn good lmao. But for Bass, I don’t think he’s gonna shoot up into the top 100 but I’m pretty confident that by maybe this time next year, his ranking will be much higher.

He has a much higher ceiling than Reggie Cameron who from day 1 you knew had below average atheleticism, speed, ball handling, on top of playing against inferior competition. With Copeland, he had extremely narrow shoulders for someone his size. That raised question marks on his durability and ability to add strength.
