Would be a decent get this late in the cycle. Kind of player that has the size/athleticism needed but would likely need a couple years to adjust to college ball before having a chance at being a major piece. Love Pat getting out on the recruiting trail.

Love Pat getting out on the recruiting trail. Has a lot of Jamari Sibley to him, talented no doubt, but raw… Not every recruit needs to be a 4 or 5 star to rebuild a program. Guys that come in and stay for four years, improving each year and eventually being a leader and starter as a senior help to move a program along in its timeline. A player like Bass could come in and do just that. I reiterate that there is a good amount of young talent on this team between Aminu, Ryan, Riley and Billinglsey? and then Anglin coming in next year. Keep that together and you can start to climb the ladder. Experience more attrition and its another case of one step forward two steps back. I echo what some other posters have been saying in that it seems like the players that are here now want to be here, so hopefully that isn't the case. Only one I'd say is a tossup to return is Aminu. Have a great year and he'll enter the draft. A poor year with teams doubling him and no help, and he (and his guardian) will be happy to find greener pastures elsewhere alla Javhon Quinerly with Nova. If they can all return and improve, and we can sprinkle in pieces to slide in behind them, we can move the program forward, good X's and O's coach or not.

RIVALS' REACTION
Bass has length and a lot of pop in his game, that is undeniable. In this setting he showcased that he could play from the wing and make some plays toward the basket, going left. He has great balance in the paint and a frame that should put on good weight, easily. Defensively, that will be Bass’ calling card. He can guard the perimeter or switch down in the post.
To speak toward his versatility, in his first game here, Bass guarded a 7-foot high-major recruit. In his second game here, Bass guarded a five-star big wing. He held both players below 10 points. Look for programs who value toughness and guys who make winning plays to really like what Bass does.

I seen or read somewhere he mentioned he would be playing in a guard position at the next level, so he's currently working on his ball handling skills.

I saw that too but he really looks like a 3-4 to me. More a 3 of course but he is essentially the same height as LeBlanc was albeit not as big...but when I watch him I see a lot of Josh in my opinion. Not highly ranked but he looks like a great fit and probably to some degree underrated.

A guy who makes winning plays and who adds a lot of immediate value by virtue of defensive versatility. Also shouldn't be expecting to have the ball in his hands too much, which would be good for a team that should hopefully have Harris, Riley, and possibly Mohammed.

He is a high level run/jump athlete, who looks to play with a high motor. I did see some highlights of him knocking down jump shots/3 pointers and his form/release look very fundamentally sound. Nice looking left handed jump jump. It is hard to really know how talented a player is from highlights with out knowing more about the competition, but he looked impressive to me.

I agree with your basic analysis...he's a prolific athlete with explosive quickness and is apparently a high level, multi positional defender (which I think initially is his calling card and is attractive to Patrick)...I think he has excellent potential to further develop his offensive game as well...I played HS bball right down the street from his school (albeit, many, many moons ago) so I'd love to see him on the Hilltop...starting an official on a Monday during the school year seems odd (unless it actually ends on a Mon.)...

It's hard not to think Stacey Augmon. I can see that comparison to Augmon. For a more recent comparison, I also see a more athletic/explosive Kaleb Johnson. I always really liked Kaleb when he was a Hoya and appreciated how hard he always played and the way he seemed willing to sacrifice his own game for whatever his team needed.

As mentioned in the 2022 Recruiting Thread, Bass is expected to visit the Hilltop starting next Monday (11/1).
3-star forward. High motor and plays with a lot of energy. Heralded for his athleticism and defense. Let's get this guy!
