This is an odd comment that seems entirely baseless, IMO. That said, if it turns out to be true, icouldn't possibly care any less. Why not? Isn't it obvious? I want the guys that want to be Hoyas and those who fit best. What they look like shouldn't matter in the least. |

Also, just hearing more about it from the players and getting their perspective and their take, it’s just everything I’ve ever wanted. It’s just straight basketball, nothing else. It’s just something I’ve dreamed about. Everything is perfect for me.”
“I like Chris Beard a lot,” Brumbaugh said. “He’s about everything I’m about… winning and just getting the job done and being tough. He’s just a basketball junkie. He has a chip on his shoulder like me. He’s done a lot with his guards at Texas Tech, and now he’s at Texas. That’s an awesome program, too.” |

Which would also rule us out. I can't pretend basketball players are treated like other students at either GU or Northwestern, and, with the scheduling requirements, they kind of can't be.
But there is a minimum beyond It’s just straight basketball, nothing else, at some schools.

I guess but to me it’s another example of how recruiting doesn’t stop after a kid verbals. I have no idea what happened here but when he wouldn’t sign the NLI it wasn’t a good sign for Collins… In my opinion the two schools are closer academically than they are basketball program wise.. |

I find it hard to buy that a kid who’s attending Northfield Mount Herman is worried about having to go to classes |

I didn't read it that way--it sounded to me that he was choosing Texas for basketball, not NIL or class attendance. I think some fans get into the wrong mindset about Georgetown recruits. The question is not "why not Georgetown" but what do recruits see more favorably in other programs. It's easy to point down the list of clown-college majors on the Texas roster ("Physical Culture & Sports", "Personal Branding", "Human Dimensions of Organizations") and dismiss them as slackers, but that's their call, not ours. (For its part, Georgetown does not even publish the majors of its players.) What drew Brumbaugh to Austin wasn't a major in sports management, or even that a teammate of his from Mount Hermon was there, but Chris Beard, who is seen as a player's coach who is young enough (48) to be relatable and willing to recruit a diverse group of recruits to build a team. Mac McClung could have gone anywhere but went to Texas Tech...because of Chris Beard. "He's a straight basketball dude who will do anything to win," said Brumbaugh. "That's what I'm about and I love his pride in the game and the chip on his shoulder. He reminds me a lot like myself. I watched Texas Tech last season and I loved how he takes pride in winning and how he plays guys who're going to help him win." By contrast, Chef Ewing isn't young nor as relatable to a lot of 17 year olds. In 2022, the top three Georgetown coaches will all be 60 years or older, with no graduate assistants coming up the ranks. After five years, it's a very similar group of coaches that recruit in much the same circles to varying degrees of success, which has led to Ewing casting an ever widening net for transfers and fifth years with no long term connections to the program or the University. Georgetown should be an absolute magnet for kids like Brumbaugh and instead, they look at Georgetown as stale. Texas has two top 30 recruits (Arterio Morris, Dillon Mitchell), and with Brumbaugh, the #85 recruit for 2022. That's on Beard, who has been there just eight months. |

What is your opinion an staff landing arguably the best shooter in high school basketball and a 5 star guy from last year who experts are saying will be a first round NBA pick? Do you think that accomplishment is minute in comparison to Texas landing Brumbaugh?? IMO, Denver took Rowan out of consideration. Rowan is going to play for one of the best young coaches in college basketball. Rowan and the other highly ranked recruits are the first freshmen he is bringing in. It’s an interesting roster, but more interesting will be seeing the make up of next year’s team. Will he continue to load it with transfers or more freshmen to develop or will it be a mix? How so? Northwestern and Texas seem to have little in common. The schools have little in common but the conferences have a lot in common. The BE as viewed as a lesser conference to other P5 basketball conferences..... |

Oh god I didn’t want to have to root for him. I never thought he was good and would always get annoyed with Jeff Goodman weirdly acting as his hype man. Hopefully he pleasantly surprised and is a solid backup point. We definitely needed ballhandlers.
