We’ve stunk over the last decade. Let’s hope the next ten years are better.

Hmmm...
Not the person I thought would take the fall for the basketball coach... will be interesting to see if this is really a one person decision or just the first shoe to drop...

Not the person I thought would take the fall for the basketball coach... will be interesting to see if this is really a one person decision or just the first shoe to drop... "Rasmussen, 70, announced his retirement Monday, roughly a month after he and the school were sanctioned by the NCAA for the only major rules violation of his tenure. The NCAA found that a former assistant basketball coach accepted cash from a management agency. Rasmussen conducted his own investigation into the matter but kept the findings private until the FBI released details of a corruption scandal that involved several big-name schools."apnews.com/article/sports-mens-college-basketball-college-basketball-creighton-bluejays-mens-basketball-fa84a31ca02167d9e9b7aa49d50fc042

It’s going to be a league dominated by Nova and UConn. I hope we can join the party.

boxscorenews.com/zendon-hamilton-joins-st-johns-mens-basketball-coaching-staff-p162339-79.htmThe seventh-leading scorer and fourth-leading rebounder in St. John's history will serve as the program's coordinator of basketball operations. In this role, Hamilton will assist in all facets of the Red Storm's day-to-day doings while playing a significant role in both alumni and community relations. "We are excited to welcome Zendon back to St. John's as a member of our basketball staff," said Head Coach Mike Anderson. "Zendon was an outstanding player who has always been a great ambassador for our University. His experience at the collegiate and professional levels and knowledge of St. John's will undoubtedly benefit our program."

depauliaonline.com/54574/sports/depaul-athletics-hires-former-chicago-bulls-strength-and-conditioning-coach/
When Coach Stubblefield called me, he pitched me on a vision of rebuilding DePaul basketball and to be a part of something special in the rebuild process and that culture,” Johnson said. “He also pitched me on the autonomy of running my own program and how I saw that my vision of how guys could improve from a physical development standpoint.” Coach Stubblefield took none of Johnson’s experience for granted and announced his hiring back in June, admitting he felt it was necessary to add a strength and conditioning coach to his new coaching staff. He described the hiring of Johnson as “a perfect storm” for him and his basketball team since Johnson had already been working and living in Chicago.Johnson is no stranger to working with the best in the business at the professional level. He shared an anecdote of flying out to Seattle to implement a rehabilitation plan for Zach LaVine, who then was freshly traded to the Bulls and four months post-ACL surgery.
Coach Stubblefield emphasized that Johnson’s NBA experience is nothing to take for granted when it comes to his own team’s current situation, and a big reason he believed Johnson would be perfect for the job. “That’s big. It’s more than just lift, lift, lift,” Stubblefield said. “It’s rehabilitation and time management with guys and workload. Guys coming off of injuries and guys that are injured to stay in shape while they’re injured. We have Javon (Freeman-Liberty), he’s going through a wrist injury right now, but can do things as far as bodyweight and other exercises to keep him in shape while he’s sitting out.”

Really huge season for Steele I remember seeing some people say elsewhere that it wouldn’t be shocking if he got fired after this season without getting to the dance (and/or an exodus) considering the roster (like 5th year players and Freemantle)

Then Nova has 7. Creighton, Seton Hal and Xavier each have one in that time period. Historically Nova has 11 to our 10 from the start of the Big East but Nova has either won it outright or shared the title all but one year since the Big East split. We have none.

So glad we won the BE Tournament last year. Without it, we would have very little to show in recent history.

So is this going to lock us or the SEC out from playing them in basketball or maybe just limit the times we get to play them, or just have them play more non conf games against one another to increase their average game profile. Interesting to see this play out and I can’t imagine them just saying no to their teams playing us like the matchup isn’t what it once was but they can’t stop cuse from playing us or have the others ignore Nova. I think it might be them just increasing the amount of times they play each other in nonconf to help themselves out as there are rivalries in football and basketball that connect us and the SEC to them. I’m not too worried tbh, as long as we keep producing a contender or two (probably UConn soon and ofc nova)in each tournament along with a few other members (we really need to start sending more than 4 again, 6 is goals) let’s just keeping rolling and focusing on ourselves

Whatever it is, it is. People who run these schemes act like there aren’t really good teams in other conferences just to inflate themselves (cough cough big 10 puffing it’s chest last year lol). I wouldn’t mind going to or hosting Houston, BYU, Loyola, SEC teams, San Diego st, big 12 and Cincinnati, hell when we finally get it together maybe in 22/23 if things go right let’s play Gonzaga bc that risk vs reward is an easy choice to make in terms of our tournament case. If the AAC and big 12 have some kind of exchange or merger maybe we even take those shockers in Wichita since they don’t even do football and having 11 teams here is weird af lol (won’t happen but it would be funny) those panic writers on sports news are annoying. Recruiting always sucked but the kids who wanna come here still will considering how low we were and how much we still pulled recently

Aside from perhaps some preferred scheduling arrangements among those conferences, does anyone actually have any idea what the "alliance" actually will look like? The BE has already shown its strong and deep enough to compete with (and often exceed) the "power" conferences in men's basketball, so at least in the short term, I don't see how this will effect the BE/Hoyas all that much.
The longer term issue may be that the "alliance" is a precursor to explicitly professionalizing revenue athletics, and that the real motivation for the B1G/PAC12/ACC is that they see the SEC moves as taking steps in that direction by poaching OU/UT. If that is the case, it will be the end of college sports as we know it, not just the end of the BE.
