I’m not getting involved in this debate, but I will say that watching Dante absolutely eat that 1st team all conference guard’s lunch was just grand. ‘ Fixed it fir you.

Went to the store to pick up today’s Washington Post but was disappointed to see we aren’t on the cover of the sports page. I guess maybe our game ended too late? Hopefully we’re on tomorrow’s cover. Oh boy, I think you might have just poked at a hornets nest and released a caged animal at the same with this post [MCIGuy]

I'm not trying to make the case that Creighton would have won the game if Z isn't taken out, I'm just pointing out that it was a big momentum shift to Gtown and a momentum killer to Creighton... I also get that you want to give Dante a lot of credit & he deserves it... Keep watching the game in the 2nd half you'll hear Gus Johnson bring up the same point I'm making... It's a point the Creighton board was all over last night but I think too much is actually made of it. People see it as a coaching error but that change wouldn't have been made if Z wasn't exhausted and mentally blitzed from Dante's defense. Z looks defeated and is bent over and looks like he will collapse. He offers no resistance to Coach taking him out of the game. This indicates to me that he absolutely needed a breather and the sub was brought in to buy time a la the way we have with Holloway. In the end it only cost 3 baskets from 13-6 to 13-13. Agreed - Creighton was getting beat to death last night if McDermott has K, Knight and Jesus as his bench coaches. That defense was literally insane. I still can’t believe I saw it. But with kids 💯 bought in on the defensive end, I think this level of intensity is the new normal. Buckle up ladies and gents. This is going to be crazy fun. Going to be one very unhappy 6-seed later today.

Article written by Gene Wang, C '91. No complaints here.

The diversity of the offensive contributions during the BET run was truly amazing. Kenpom has an algorithm that denotes the game MVP and it was awarded to Q, Dante, Morko and Chudi in chronological order. Meanwhile Jahvon led the team in scoring in the tournament and made the All-Tournament team and Don went 6-11 from 3.

Went to another one and got the late edition 👍

Just magic everywhere...all week...from all quarters. Never had that much fun watching BET, because it was just totally unexpected.

Oh boy, I think you might have just poked at a hornets nest and released a caged animal at the same with this post [MCIGuy] First of all I have to say I was ticked I didn't get my newspaper delivered to me so I went to a 7-11 to get one. About an hour later, at around 12 noon, my Sunday paper was finally delivered to my porch. I know there is a daylight saving's time adjustment but that was ridiculous. Anyway in the paper I picked up the Hoyas are on the front page of the sports section. What I take issue was that the Post did not send any of its columnists to cover what has essentially been the college basketball story, if not THE sports story in general, of this week. The Hoyas didn't even get a regular beat writer to cover the team, the Post switched up on writers throughout the tourney. Makes me wonder if the initial journalist covering their run was even in NYC at all. But there were columnists for the Terps in the Big Ten. And another columnist who devoted his time trashing Greg McDermott and the "plantation mentality" of college basketball....blah, blah, blah. I didn't expect columnists to be writing about Gtown from the very beginning of the BET but as the buzz kept building one would think the editors would have at least sent someone to New York to write for the Hoyas for the championship game. In the past when being caught off guard by a Hoya run the Post would do exactly this: have a columnist on hand for the semi-finals or at least the finals. Someone like Sally Jenkins. But this year with this huge media story, including the additional narrative surrounding Big John's passing, you would think this especially would be catnip for a DC newspaper. Nope. That said I have mellowed out as I've aged and didn't send some irate e-mail to the WPost. It is what it is. My expectations from the Post are low anyway so far as Gtown is comcerned.

That can happen but not in this game. The decision was the correct one by Coach, given the fact that Z was blitzed and the back up point guard Shariff Mitchell was out with concussion protocol. So you don't think that they game changed at that point? I say we agree to disagree... Etomic the game did change at that point but McD needed to get the most out of Zegarowski and even GTown fans weren't expecting Dante to turn into AI. He's thinking the #2 seed can withstand 3-5mins without our best player against the 8th seed. It just didn't work because Dante stepped up and Juggy came in fresh. We were on our 4th straight but Creighton was on their 3rd straight (a jump shooting team). If McD leaves Zegarowski in I believe we beat them worse because they wouldn't have gotten anything out of Zegarowski in the 2nd half.

There's also the potential foul trouble issue to consider with Z having to play the whole game with Shereef Mictchell out. Dante was really pushing the pace offensively, and an exhausted Z could pick up some quick silly fouls. There were really no good choices for Coach but trying to buy some time for a rattled Z makes logical sense.

This game was just awesome. I'm still on my high horse. What a game.
The defense was absolutely smothering. There was nothing Creighton could do. This is exactly why I always harped on the defense. When it is this good, you can beat anybody on any night. That's the best defensive performance we've seen under Coach and it's not close. Coach has got us dancing baby!!!!! Dante Harris is a star. We did it.

EDIT: Oh, one more thing. The play that changed everything imo is when Carey pulled from deeeeeeep three point range and drilled it. Dante on Canfield was massive, but this play was sooo big. It showed the confidence went everywhere and not just with Dante. I think this play changed the game.

Are you folks serious? Do you really think ONE play changed the game? Folks, They got drubbed by 25 points and it wasn't that close. Total domination.

I think the Carey three is the play that gave us momentum that we took on to led to the W. I think it was the momentum switch where we never looked back.
