I just think the Hoyas and coaching staff could learn from having the center guard the guard out at the perimeter because it would cut down his driving lanes and probably his passing lanes. It's like having your center hedge way ahead of time before the guard gets downfield. Florida State runs a 6'9" PG man. They put their guards on Wright, their guards are just huge. They didn't put their center on him. And Q can't guard these guys. He's not quick enough.

Q was the least of our problems against Colorado. Look at all of the guys that can handle the rock for FSU and disrupt Colorado's defense. We have 1 guy that can do that in Dante and he struggles to finish at the rim. I say Blair can handle the rock too, but he was off. He can't break down a defense and facilitate.

Ewing will have to change up his recruiting tactic in this case. None of the centers on the roster can cover ground like that.

As others have mentioned Wahab can't guard like this Tim is better but was a liability on the offensive end We gotta get some athletic bigs, the last good big we had was Henry Sims Seminoles defense is smothering Colorado...they are out of sync The problem with "we gotta get some athletic bigs" is we are really out of scholarships and we have all the big men that we going to need for the next two years at least. Athletic bigs don't grow on trees. And if they do, they are the one and done types or in Europe or in the NBA. That is why most college teams play small these days. Even Ewing (and Hakeem) were anomalies during their era at the their height with guard-like agility.

That's not true. His main defender was big because they are a huge team. Is this the first time you've seen FSU?

The two 7 footers playing against Wright tonight weren't that nimble on their feet but they cover a lot of ground and pretty much stopped his penetration before he was able to get started.

None of the centers on the roster can cover ground like that. TBF Wilson has potential to be a big that can guard smalls, or at least he looked like that type of guy in HS.

I like how he keeps that left hand in the air after every shot, waiting for it to go in the basket.

TBF Wilson has potential to be a big that can guard smalls, or at least he looked like one in HS. Wilson can move and is agile. But he suffers from the problem Sibley has at the moment: Lack of basketball skills. Good athletes, but both are extremely raw as basketball players.

His main defender was big because they are a huge team. Is this the first time you've seen FSU? The announcers even said so themselves late in the game. The one guy said, FSU were putting their centers on McKinley-Wright all night. That Nigerian dude was checking him and that Koprivska dude was checking him and both are 7 footers. I am sure you are right that Barnes checked him sometimes but from what I saw, most of the time it was the bigs checking Wright (out on the perimeter).

At the moment, there's nothing can be done. Ewing is going to have to adjust to teams when they go small and spread them out. Until Ewing starts to recruit a more athletic big who can switch with less problems. Q, Timmy, Malcolm, and Ryan don't fit the bill (at the moment). Unless they really change up how they play on the floor. I honestly don't see it coming to materialize.

I wish we can watch this FSU game again so that we can see how they did it (meaning prevented McKinley-Wright from penetrating). Most of the time he was passing the ball to his left or right. They pretty much shut down most of the court in terms of giving McKinley-Wright options.
