Grifter's defense ends with a whimper. Costello trying to play tough guy mob lawyer did no favors for an effective defense. Of course, CHARLIE SILO Grifter didn't testify as he broadly proclaimed. Loser. All the documentary evidence remains unrebutted. Costello back on the stand, may be last witness in Trump’s hush money trial www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/05/21/trump-hush-money-trial-live-updates/How do you think the judge’s complete admonishment of Costello affects the jury if at all? It likely will. Most juries tend to love their judge as the judge functionally controls the jurors's lives for the length of the trial. Not quite Stockholm syndrome but a similar dynamic. Judge Merchan appears to be the exact type of judge juror's will like. Juries also notice everything. They would have noticed the Grifter's disdain for the proceeding by closing his eyes if not actually sleeping. Costello's initial contemptuous conduct was in front of the jury. They will have noticed that and that was their last impression of the defense case. Blanche/Bove/Necheles would have been better off resting after Cohen's last redirect. Some speculate that Costello was called because the Grifter insisted upon it. Longest jury trial I was involved in was in Boston in the brand spanking new courthouse (aka Breyer's Folly) and lasted almost 6 weeks as the judge only had trial 9 am - 2 pm. When you confine the same people in the same space for that length of time, it becomes its own little community. Jurors will make judgments on who they like, dislike, not only the judge but also the attorneys, courtroom deputy, bailiff, court security officers. My trial attorney boot camp at DOJ showed us some studies that 80% of jurors may make up their minds after the opening statement! While, I don't quite believe that it is quite that high, I believe that "likeability" of the plaintiff/defendant, prosecutors/defense attorneys does matter. If you are a jerk in real life, jurors will pick up on that. Despite a jury instruction to rely only upon the evidence presented in court I believe the human dynamic is much more complex. Kicker on this one is that two attorneys are seated on this jury, unheard of in my 35 years of experience. One maybe, but two?? I have no idea how that will affect this outcome. My two cents, FWIW.

A whole new way of lying about his crowd sizes. Creative, I suppose. But, as per usual, complete BS.

I am not a litigator, so take this for what it's worth, but I can't imagine the jury's reaction being anything but negative toward the witness. It seems to me that at this point the defense's best shot is to argue that the prosecution has not proved all of the elements of the crime, and they only have to convince one juror of that (say, the Trump Social guy?).

This is completely on brand, but millions will swear it's true because he said so.

I was with this until the smear against justified margins. 🤣 In all seriousness, is this a surprise to . . . anyone?

Manhattan DA claims 4-4.5 hours of closing argument today. I'd hazard to guess it comes in under that as the DA wouldn't want to have to continue argument tomorrow. Plus, jury will appreciate it. Too long if really uses that much time.

Past 7:30 pm and Manhattan DA still in closing argument. Apparently the jury voted to keep going IOT finish closing arguments today.
Jury charge in morning, and hopefully guilty verdicts by COB Friday. Jurors will want their weekend!

But if we do, it could only mean one thing, and it would be good.

Acquittals on counts where moron sons signed checks and the associated charges.

Verdict is in, about 30 minutes for jury to complete jury form and announce.
Ready for "bloodbath?"

The cult leader of the MAGA GOP cult is a convicted felon. All thirty-four counts. Any comment from our "Republicans"?
