Corrupt GOPers love dictator Putin because their sociopath leader does. True scumbags lacking in integrity and devoid of any American democratic values. Biden’s next challenge, after the successful summits, is to pass key parts of his domestic legislative agenda over objections from Republicans who seem, weirdly, more antagonistic toward him than Putin. He should use the same tactics that worked in his trip abroad. Negotiate with his adversaries but remind them of his hard options. Be a pragmatic centrist, not bipartisan. Make them worry about the political dangers of obstruction. An outside-in strategy would use Biden’s new strength on the international stage to challenge Republicans: When the whole world seems to be celebrating the fact that America is back, does the GOP really think it can remain in its own bubble of resentment and lies? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/06/17/biden-should-make-his-success-abroad-platform-progress-home/

Biden is a wimp. Could have made DeSantis jump through some hoops before authorizing aid for such a relatively minor disaster. U.S. President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration in the state of Florida and ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local response efforts. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-approves-florida-emergency-declaration-after-building-collapse/ar-AALpNI1?ocid=uxbndlbingDoes any of our HoyaTalk Republican cultists doubt that the fake tough guy sociopath would have attempted to extract a political price before granting any federal aid to a Democratically-run state? The whiplash over the federal emergency funds — which Trump has previously threatened to withhold but never has — came during the final weeks of a presidential campaign during which the president has often held California up as a prime example of liberal irresponsibility. Trump lost the nation’s most-populous state — where Republican voter registration has dropped below the number of those who have not declared a party — by 30 percentage points in the 2016 election. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/10/16/trump-rejects-california-disaster-wildfires/

Look at music charts and tv ratings. Crap sells.

Fox News polling shows majority approval Some good news for President Biden from an unexpected source this week: Polling from Fox News put his approval rating at 56 percent. That’s above the president’s current average, as calculated by FiveThirtyEight, and, while not historically jaw-dropping, it is noteworthy in a deeply polarized political moment. It’s largely a function of three things. The first is overwhelming support from Democrats, 60 percent of whom approve of him strongly and more than 9-in-10 who approve at least somewhat. The second is that a majority of independents at least somewhat approve of his performance. The third, and perhaps most unexpected, is that a fifth of Republicans say they at least somewhat approve — including 13 percent of those who also say they voted for former president Donald Trump last year. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/06/25/fox-news-polling-shows-majority-approval-biden-not-that-youll-hear-about-it-much-fox-news/

The Fox News polling team (the "Decision Desk") enjoys a good reputation as polling organizations go. Remember, it called the race early for Obama in 2012 (causing Karl Rove some indigestion) and Arizona for Biden in 2020. However, do not expect this poll to get any coverage on the network, particularly after 7:00 pm EDT.

The thrust of article is about how Fox buries the bottomline results and spins: "Those are striking results in the details. But if you are an avid consumer of Fox News’s programming and online content, you’d be forgiven for not having heard about them."

Truth be told, I am a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, small-government, strong-defense and a national-anthem-standing conservative. But, I also believe that black lives matter, that the Dreamers deserve a path to citizenship, that diversity and inclusion are essential to our national success, that education is the great equalizer, that climate change is real and that the First Amendment is the cornerstone of our democracy. Most important, I believe that America must lead in the world with courage, conviction and a sense of honor and humility. He added, "I voted for Joe Biden." PS On "Firing Line" this week ADM McRaven left open the possibility of running for office. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/admiral-bin-laden-raid-endorses-biden-dramatic-fashion-n1243990

Poor HoyaTalk Republicans. They have nothing of substance to offer. Cue another Fox talking point - "demented whisper" or "critical race theory?" Dr. Seuss? Hunter Biden's laptop? Mr. Potato Head? C'mon, don't disappoint! Gerson, a Republican: So President Biden’s recently announced crime package was remarkable in one way: It was actually focused on reducing crime. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/06/28/biden-crime-plan-transcends-partisan-ideologies/

I hope the crime plan works.
In Philadelphia, as gun violence rages out of control, the Democrat Mayor and Governor want $100MM in funding for “programs” to eliminate the “root causes” of this violence.
Let’s all sing Kumbaya and open another Rec Center. That should stop the senseless gang violence in its tracks.

Never been a fan of the death penalty. I don’t like mistakes that can’t be undone.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with the growing economic inequality that is, invariably, worsened by Republican policies. It has a lot to do with many causal factors including the ones you listed. However, throwing money at these problems to amorphous “programs” is rarely, if ever, the answer.
