And the 2020 hits keep on coming.
What a tremendous player, but more importantly person.
“I AM Third” is a must read.
RIP No. 40

Great player and important part of Brian's Song. May he rest in peace.

Before he had a devastating knee injury in 1968 he was probably the greatest runner ever. He could change direction at full speed which no one else I ever saw was able to do.

Slightly too young to have seen him in real games. My father always talked about him as the best/most exciting-Brian's Song great movie, remember when it came out in elem school as my family watched it. Got to go to an autograph signing with him mid 70"s. Worth checking out tape of him for those who have never seen it.

I agree with these comments, he was amazing to watch. In the modern day, the closest comp I can come up with is Barry Sanders.

I never really had the opportunity to see Gale Sayers play at his best. What struck me about him, though, as expounded upon elsewhere, was his utter humility. A great player, and more importantly a great man.
Requiescat in pace, #40.
