Billingsly is exactly the kind of player we need to play the 4. He has legit size. He can score inside, he can rebound. Plus he moves his feet fairly well, so he at least has a chance to defend the perimeter. and he easily stretches his shot out to the 3 point line, while also being able to beat an aggressive closeout off the dribble. he even shows some vision as a passer.
Hard to believe he'll be ready to play a lot right away next year, and his HS quality of competition was not particularly strong - so who knows how his game will translate to the Big East, especially as a freshman. But in terms of the type of player he is - he's a perfect fit for what we (or really any team) needs. Hopefully he develops well. He needs to tone up his body and refine his solid basic skill set. But the foundations of a very nice game are there.

One year behind Bile would be ideal.

His game reminds me of Tyrese Samuel from Seton Hall. Maybe a couple inches shorter, but an inside-out presence that can get up pretty well.
They've used Samuel as Mamu's backup the last two years, but probably looking to start as a junior now

Looks like he filled out a bit and maybe can play a stretch four or am I just seeing what I want to?

Looks like he filled out a bit and maybe can play a stretch four or am I just seeing what I want to? That's his only position imo. It remains to be seen how consistent he can be spotting up though.

Yeah, I was looking at sites that listed him at 185-195 and was just thinking he’s bigger than that now. But some have him listed at 215 which looks more right. If he were 185ish, I’d think he have much less of a chance at contributing right away. But if he is 200 plus, he could bang just enough. And makes me think he could add even more muscle if he’s been filling out like this already. His shot looks pretty good. I’m sure it’s not consistent but it’s good form to work with. He may be a nice surprise for us. Haven’t really had a stretch four since maybe Jeff?

How could I forget about Marcus? Guess you’re right about Bile too. Don’t really think about him in the same way but clearly he fits that bill.

He seems really long. Barley has to jump or have a runway to dunk. Wonder what his wingspan is.
