I don't see what the big deal here is. Henry explicitly said he wished they had gone to Maryland or Florida so they didn't have to do any classwork and they could have someone do the work for them. If that's the way he feels, that's his opinion, but that's not an opinion that's an indictment of how the program was run or the Princeton offense. Bummed they didn't ask about the GUSA run. I did not interpret his comments in that way. My interpretation was that he said he wished they had gone to Florida and Maryland for basketball reasons - i.e., playing in a different system. I believe it was Clark (but maybe Henry) who said they had to work for every grade, unlike other places where people take tests for you. But, I did not interpret him as saying he wish he had done that. I agree with 2003. I thought he said that he did not regret his decision to go to Georgetown due to the opportunity to play with his teammates -- but he talked about maybe them all playing together somewhere else, like Florida, due to the limitations within the Princeton offense. The schoolwork comment was made in reference to him being proud of the diploma hanging on his wall because he earned it -- doing every single assignment required in his classes. I did not take it as a negative, but more as a sense of pride and accomplishment. He threw in that this is different than at Maryland, where the work is done for the players. Throughout the podcast, they talked about how much fun they had at Georgetown, and I did not note them say anything negative about the Georgetown experience other than the Princeton offense.

I am surprised this Sims answer hasn't gotten more buzz.
While I think this is interesting, I think it's also notable that they all seem to think that more recent players should be on staff. So, the two things are somewhat contradictory. I do think if eventually Ewing moves on without success, that the school needs a more firm break with the past, unless there happens to be a great contender out there who also happens to fit within the tradition (and I am not aware of any at the moment).

I had the same thought re Sims's comments being contradictory. (As an aside, for anyone who hasn't listened yet, the Sims-Clark episode is definitely NSFW. Henry's vocabulary is, let's say, colorful.)

I may need to listen to this part again, as I did find it a bit hard to follow. But, it seemed to me that he ended up saying that the change can be someone other than a head coach coming in, with different connections. I found particularly interesting the opinion that a former player -- who has been in their shoes before -- could really help the current players navigate university life. Maybe this would have helped prevent some of the off-court issues that affected the team this year.

While there have been no former players on staff in the last two years, Georgetown has had former players involved in other roles:
2016: Patrick Ewing Jr. (Director of Basketball Operations) 2016-2017: Patrick Ewing Jr. (Director of Basketball Operations); Jonathan Wallace (Special Assistant to the Head Coach) 2018: Jonathan Wallace (Special Assistant to the Head Coach)
Plus, my understanding is that Ronnie Thompson has been around the program a lot, even though his role-if a paid role at all-is apparently kept quiet. And, Ewing Jr. is now back in the role of handling alumni relations.
Part of the issue that I see is that there is really not much of a coaching tree for Georgetown to rely on, in the sense of getting former players in bigger roles on staff. John Thompson Jr. really has no coaching tree to speak of that can be drawn upon. The guys who were with JT3 are only now beginning to transition away from playing basketball to coaching, as many of his players are still playing professionally in Europe, etc.
I definitely think there could be a role for somebody as a special assistant (like Wallace), and I generally think having a younger group of assistants could be beneficial to some extent. But, I just don't know of anybody who is ready to be an assistant at Georgetown that is that young. I know many have said Braswell clearly wants that - I am only mid-way through that interview, so I cannot comment yet - but there just aren't that many former Hoyas ready to step up. And, to some extent, anybody Ewing picks needs to be compatible with Ewing, which probably further thins out the group.
Could somebody like that have helped prevent the turnover that happened last year? I really have no idea, but my guess is Wright, Freeman, and other former players have more inside information on that stuff than any of us do.

UNC has Dean. Since Dean, they liked having a Carolina guy as a coach ( Gutherige, Doherty, Williams).
Outside of the current staff, the closest thing we have is Horace Broadnax.

Many 6'9" people out there looking for used Hoyas gear? Idk about those XLT warmups but I'm highly debating the pregame jacket. Those player warmups are much better then the ones Nike sells to the public.
