It was the most information on the departures that I've heard. Mind giving a quick recap? I listened to it yesterday and wasn't taking notes, but Jagan said that Mac texted everyone when he first declared to let them know that he was just doing some workouts and that he intended to be back, so everyone was pretty surprised by the transfer news. He speculated that some of what Mac heard during his NBA workouts might have made him feel like he needed to be a permanent point guard despite his propensity as a scorer, and that he didn't feel like he'd be able to do that at Georgetown with Harris and some point guards coming in. He also mentioned that McClung and his camp had some drama last year with the training staff over how his injury was handled. Overall it seemed like there were no hard feelings, but it was a surprise to his teammates that he left. They glossed over Galen and Josh as having "an incident on campus", but Jagan mentioned that Josh was in the doghouse when the year started and after the frustrating loss to UNCG decided to move on. Said that it was crazy that the James and Josh news came out together even though there were different reasons. Described Akinjo as being a headstrong type, and alluded to the possibility that his family was in his ear. There was a lot of interesting stuff, he talked about the difference between interacting with JTIII and Ewing too. Recommend checking out the full discussion, even if you listen on 1.5x or 2x.

I thought Jagan had the most poise and maturity of the more recent interviewees. Very impressive-sounding guy.

Darrel Owens and Jesse Sapp tomorrow on Hoyas Locker Room at 1 PM.
Speaking of Darrel Owens, sounds like he’s been working out with Collin Holloway a bunch this summer. Says Collin is “a 3 that can do a little of everything. He’s ambidextrous and can finish equally at the rim.”

Podcast roundup from this weekend: Dawg Talk with Chris Wright and Markel Starks Hoya Locker Room Talk with Gene Smith, Horace Broadnax, and David Green Kente Korner discussing the Jalin Billingsley commitment Just finished up the Markel Starks episode of Dawg Talk today. One interesting note was that he applied and interviewed for a graduate assistant position at Georgetown in 2017 when Ewing was hired.

Didn’t realize Jerome Williams grew 7”after graduating from high school, that he was going to be a PG for us until AI showed up, or that he was recruited off of a playground pick-up game. Wish I had known more about his backstory 25 years ago.

Jerome never mentioned it but he played at Montgomery CC before arriving on the Hilltop. He had his growth spurt after graduating from HS, but still played at CC for a couple of years.

Germantown campus. Montgomery College also has campuses in Takoma Park and Rockville. Don't know if this was mentioned but another bit of JYD trivia - he was destined to be a Hoya at birth - born at Georgetown University Hospital the year GU hired Big John!

Jerome is a character. What a workhorse he was. Wish we heard a bit more about his time at Georgetown....a bit tough to follow this interview.
