Let's see - four police officers shot in St. Louis, one shot in Las Vegas, one a victim of a hit and run in the Bronx, another beaten in the Bronx, another injured in a tussle in Richmond, and an SUV driven through a line of law enforcement officers in Buffalo. Not to mention bricks and rocks thrown at officers. Except for a few words by hoyarooter, the Sounds of Silence continues. While we convert yet another thread into Trump bashing. Actually, the police officer shot in Las Vegas and is in critical condition is the best friend of my wife's friend's son. 29 years old. So, yes, this is not called for. My wife's friend an ICU nurse) asked me to pray for him, and I will. It is time for the police and the protesters to step back. It is time for respect. A lot of this is on the police's side. But on the other side, it is not the protesters, but the fringe groups, who think looting and violence are a good thing to promote chaos. The looting hurts the minorities and the immigrants as much as it hurts anybody else.

I've been to 3 marches out here in LA already. All have been well over 1,000 people. The one I went to on Saturday was probably 20K, and the one I was at in Hollywood today was probably 3-5000. On Saturday some knucklehead threw a rock through the window at Whole Foods. As soon as it happened he got threatened and chased away. Today while we're walking 2 kids that weren't even with the group started tagging random businesses with graffiti. When the people in the crowd saw them they yelled at them and chased them off. The kids told them to f off and walked down a side street. You have people marching for change and you have other people using that as cover to start a bunch of mess. It's getting lumped into one group, but it's not. In the case of the looters they are just using the fact that the police are occupied with the protestors to their advantage. Police are watching the protestors and the criminals are around the corner committing crimes.

To use the Bible in a photo op, after clearing peaceful protestors from Lafayette Park with, The Hill reported, “tear gas and smoke bombs hissing” so he could walk to a church, was simultaneously unhelpful to the current situation and at odds with the message of that Bible. Republican Senator Ben Sasse described it as “photo op that treats the Word of God as a political prop.” But what Trump did on the steps of St. John’s is what most pastors around the country remind their congregations not to do. The Bible will be as useful to you displayed on the fire mantle as it will when held aloft outside a church. Jesus himself warns against this in Matthew 6, cautioning to “beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them.” In other words, God is not pleased when we use the Bible as an ornament to be seen by others. A Bible in a photo op was not the Bible we needed. www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2020/june/bible-is-not-prop.html

The police should be on the streets protecting the protestors and making it safe for them to exercise their constitutionally protected rights. Instead, we get this and then everyone wonders why there are riots in the streets.

And, of course, there is this absolutely appalling image from the Lincoln Memorial last night.

This time, in Seattle. The police clearly provoked a riot in this one. These things go on and on.

What parts of Trump's agenda do you support? Are those parts of agenda that important to ignore his racism, fascism, and idiocy?

You may want to dispense of the ancient superstition and deal with what is happening here in the real world with Trump and his historically brutal and destructive agenda.

By the same token, if you keep supporting Trump, maybe you need a refresher course on most of the New Testament. Most religious leaders, INCLUDING PAT ROBERTSON, have a problem with Trump at this point. Honestly, I can’t believe you’re okay with what he did. It was entirely un-American and entirely un-Christian.

EasyEd, sincere question: who are you going to vote for the U.S. Senate seat in S.C. in November? Graham or Cunningham?

And, of course, there is this absolutely appalling image from the Lincoln Memorial last night. Anyone with more of military background care to comment on the apparent lack of any insignias or other identifying marks? Doesn't seem to be any way to really determine who this is. Could be the Little Green Men on loan from Crimea for all I know.
