After first glance, X/Butler/St Johns/Depaul (assuming) are no better than the Hoyas. X, St Johns, and Butler will be horrendous offensively so our roster has the opportunity to finish middle of the pack if we can get stops and shoot well. BE does seem very down compared to last year and it doesn't look like next year will be much better with 13/15 first team preseason BE members expected to move on either by graduation or going pro.

I think you guys are assuming way too much based on 1-2 games.

It’s the Big East anybody can be beaten. Go Hoyas!

St.John's just beat LaSalle 82-65 without Dunn or Champagnie... Their newcomers of Cole, Alexander, Moore & Wsu definitely look like players...

Was wondering where the Xavier game that was supposed to be televised went. Apparently, the FS1 production crew has COVID issues, and they can't even televise it at all. Then I flip over to see Bill Raftery in a pretty crowded gym with no mask. (From the cryptic comments on FOX yesterday, it appears that Terry Bradshaw has COVID as well.) I'm happy to have the entertainment from a season, but it seems like we're really tempting fate, especially with all the older men coaching a sport with zero social distancing.

I think it's time to pack this thing in. It's not worth it. We can watch the games next year after everyone has been inoculated. Let's close up shop!

“We had to get an okay from St. Joe’s, if they would be able to move the game before we could accept any offers or think about offers,” Wright said on Friday. “We were doing that as we were preparing for Arizona State, and they — the Gazelle Group — also at the same time was talking to teams saying, ‘Would you want to play Villanova?’ After the (Arizona State) game they said the only team we could match up with was Virginia Tech, and we had gotten word back from St. Joe’s.
“It was like, 12:30, and the team had gone back to their rooms. I finished a press conference. I had to check with the team, because they thought they were going home. I don’t think they knew Temple was cancelled, because we only talk about the next game. The guys had gone back to their rooms. By the time I got back, I called Collin (Gillespie), told him to talk to the team and see what they think.”

Intriguing day for the conference:
PC vs Indiana SJ vs BC SHU vs Iona
Plus Marquette vs OK State tomorrow (UConn vs Vandy has been cancelled).
Will be interesting to see how the rest of the conference fares in these games against some decent competition. Early results have been mixed, but there appears to be a lot of parity/rust across CBB right now.

Damn I wish he was a regular in the BEast circuit - such a break from the usual BS

Damn I wish he was a regular in the BEast circuit - such a break from the usual BS I agree -- he's great if it's not your team's game. I like hearing him talk about Bruce Hornsby occasionally playing outside on the Biltmore lawn. And he's twisting this new pbp guy in knots. But when you actually care about each and every play, it's tough hearing stories about his favorite location in the solar system or the 1100th reference to a John Wooden quote.

Well he just quoted the Dead, so I’m good.

I get that it's BC but this was a good win for St.John's in my view...
Champagnie looks like the real deal...

I am always happy when BC loses, but they are not that bad of a team this year, so this is a decent win for St John's. I watched some of the game and it looks like St John's is not much different than they were last year. If you let them speed the game up and play at the frantic pace they want to pay at, then they will give alot of teams problems. They play very hard and will create baskets off turnovers. If you don't let them dictate the pace, don't give them many live ball turnovers and force them to play in the half court, they are going to struggle. The talent level at St John's is a little better, but not a huge upgrade from last year.

I disagree to a certain extent. Posh Alexander is an upgrade in the backcourt for them, even though he's just a frosh. Good looking PG with athleticism and strength. And Champagne clearly made a big leap from last year - looks locked in and confident. And I actually think losing Figeroa might be addition by subtraction. So I see them as improved, and unfortunately ahead of us right now.

So I see them as improved, and unfortunately ahead of us right now. I agree that Alexander looks like he is going to be a really good player for them, but he is just a freshman and played like one at times in the game yesterday. I think he will have some highlights and some strong games, but he will likely struggle with consistency like most freshman. Champagne is a good player and clearly improved, but Figeroa was a proven scorer in the Big East so I am not sure that is much of an upgrade at this point. I also agree with you that Figeroa's time at St John's had ended and it helps him and the program for him to move on, but his scoring will be missed on that team. I think the Hoyas will struggle with St John's, but they should be competitive in those games, and it would not be an upset for them to win at least one of those games. I think both teams are young and need to find an identity.
