You guys really need to stop getting so heated when people have minor criticisms of the team and its trajectory. It's a natural part of any fan base, as are delusional fans that think these programs can do no wrong. A lot of people felt Murray would be an excellent contributor for this team and are disappointed we're not pursuing him, given the host of other local recruits historically we didn't pursue that ended up doing very well in college and beyond. If you disagree with their criticisms go ahead and respond to that but if your response is just "STOP BEING NEGATIVE" then there's no point to even having these forums if the whole time everyone just agrees with each other and believes everything is honky-dory. It’s not minor criticism. You are mentally unwell as well. YOU need to stop trying so hard to defend blatant and uninformed negativity towards a group of young men. You might be dumb and selfish enough to convince yourself that words have no impact and don’t mean anything, but they do. Saying dumb stuff over and over and screaming that the sky is falling and shutting on every player not named Otto Porter is NOT helpful at all. If you are so worried about the deficiencies of the program you would think people would avoid purposely, unnecessarily and unfairly painting the program in a negative light, right? The first amendment doesn’t say just blabber on till your heart is content without making the effort to understand the reality of the situation. Yeah yeah you’ll argue that being right is a matter of perspective, well sorry to break it to you but that’s just what people say when they’re not right. There are objective truths in this world. How about you use your Georgetown education to contribute positively instead of trying to defend the negativity constantly put forward by posters who are clearly missing something essential in their own personal lives (that’s why they take out their frustrations by picking at the game of 20 year olds they claim to support and say things they would never say to their face). So first I'm a huge hater for thinking we should have slightly higher standards as a fan base than where we are at currently, now I am "mentally unwell" for saying let people with negative perspectives of the program share their opinion without being attacked. I will admit I found hoya9797's comments overboard and exaggerated, but let them share it! If you believe our players are good and the team has been good despite our record, explain why! The level of defensiveness you respond to each of my comments calling for reasoned responses over exaggerated displays of optimist in the team reveals so much about the insecurity of many members of the fan base have regarding this program. I am actually on the whole pretty optimistic about where we are, which is why I want higher standards for why we want certain players over others, whereas it seems many of you are content to just say "we are better than we were last season" and accept anything. Likewise I am optimistic we can handle a couple trolls saying they don't like the job Ewing has been doing, and I don't think having these voices on hoyatalk or elsewhere really damage us or our perspective. Ewing's record thusfar speaks for itself, positively and negatively, and recruits aren't going to encounter negative opinions about this program they would not have already encountered from opposing coaches recruiting against us. Take it easy man, I'm not against you, I'm just saying lets take a step back and allow people to debate these things without acting like they're somehow destroying the program. No need to attack my mental fitness, which is hilarious you are talking about saying things to people faces when you CLEARLY would not call me mentally unwell to my face if you were not sitting behind the comforts of a screen.

I’m just dealing with reality here which is that the team is going to be bad next year which will make it four years of bad play under Ewing and six consecutive years total. That’s just the way it is and all the positive spin in the world will not change the result. Maybe the players are good which means the coaches are failing even worse than I thought. Whatever the reason, this is a bad team that is, at best, treading water. Nah you’re dealing with your own reality which sounds like a depressed one. What am I missing here? What is the good stuff that I’ve missed over the past five years? Is it the win loss record? The high finishes in the Big East? The post-season success? The recruiting wins? Sure, there are highlights here and there but, in the aggregate, it’s objectively true that this team has been, extremely generously, mediocre and, realistically, bad. Find all the silver linings you want but, in the end, the results have to speak for themselves.

It definitely won’t be Georgetown for Brandon Murray and I couldn’t credibly say where he will land. I don’t even think he has a sense of where he might be four months from now. Murray will be unable to take any of his official visits due to the coronavirus pandemic. Murray told Rivals.com that the Hoyas are no longer recruiting him. He is primarily focused on DePaul, Georgia, Memphis, Ole Miss and Rhode Island. Of the group, I would say DePaul, Georgia and Ole Miss have the best chance. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-oklahoma-state-pitt-syracuseI don't see the quoted portion in this post in the Rivals article linked in this post, Here's what I see in regards to Murray... Brandon Murray told Rivals.com that Georgetown but so, too, is DePaul, Georgia, Memphis, Ole Miss, and Rhode Island. Of the group, I would say DePaul, Georgia and Ole Miss have the best chance. However, credibly predicting where he will commit is difficult since he doesn't even know which side he is favoring. He will also be unable to take visits due to the coronavirus.I'm not reading anything about Gtown not recruiting him anymore...

I am not sure what happened, but earlier this morning that link/article did say that Georgetown had stopped recruiting him. Maybe the article has been edited since this morning for some reason, but it did say the Hoyas had stopped at one point. Very strange.

Definitely wanted this recruitment to go well because I'm high on Murray's game but also because the talk was that PE was in charge of this recruitment, hate to think he couldn't make headway with the young man...

This doesn't read like Murray told the staff to get lost, more so we went in a different direction. My best guess as to the the edit is that Murray told Evans we are no longer recruiting him, but requested him to change the wording of the article since he either does not want that information out yet, or is not technically true and we only slowed things down. Either way, I don't see why Evans would write "Brandon told me the hoyas are not recruiting him anymore" unless it actually happened, and its doubtful we would have restarted recruiting him in the time since he spoke to Evans.

What a strange situation. Seems the original article was edited, so maybe we're not totally out. Plenty of room for speculation on what actually happened there. One plausible scenario is that we haven't really stopped recruiting him exactly, we are just de-prioritizing him hoping we can make inroads with Walton. Maybe Murray is still hoping that we come around and that's why he clarified to Rivals.
I guess only time will tell here. All I know is that Murray is going to be good and unless there's something troubling behind the scenes I hope we're all in on him.

I can't see a reason why Gtown would tell him that they're no longer interested...

Maybe the staff is feeling good about a 5-guard rotation of Mac, Blair, Harris, Harris, and Beard. Pickett, Wilson, Sibley, and Clark could use some help at the 3-4 positions, so maybe that’s where we end up focusing with additional recruits and transfers. For better or worse, it appears Wahab and Iggy have the 5 locked down between them. Gonna be a tough 2020-21 season. I think I am just blinded by optimism, but to me that is a solid rotation. Murray looked like a solid player, but I think he would have been the 5th best player in a 5 man recruiting class so I wouldn't say this is devastating news. PG - J.Harris - Beard/Harris SG - Mac/Blair Wing - Pickett/Sibley/Clark Big - Wahab/Iggy/Wilson. Maybe add one more frontcourt piece to the rotation via grad transfer Horne, Ivanauskas, Lindo, Nolley.. That is a roster that should make the tournament. You are blinded by optimism. Our defense has stunk the last three years and we lose our two best defenders with small replacements. Our team last year was under .500 and we didn't improve at this point. We have one guy who can get himself a bucket and has proven it. Beard, Harris, Clark, and Sibley haven't proven it. Iggy is really raw, I genuinely think he should redshirt next season and let Wilson be the backup center and allow for himself to take a year off as aside from his strength, he was really raw. He doesn't have the polish of a Big East center. He made some mistakes that can be improved, but unless he has a remarkable summer, I think he should redshirt and improve over the course of the next season so he can come into 2021-22 and be a force. But, he was just really raw and doesn't position himself very well defensively and doesn't have much offensive game aside from the get the rebound and put it up. He contributed last season and played pretty well, but I think a year off helps his game improve and the team's rotation. Aside from Mac, I don't see a guy who can score it on his own. Our team had long stretches where they couldn't score last season, once Mac and Omer went down and losing Omer won't help. Beard and Sibley would have to become straight up ballers and guys who immediately produce 10-15 points and the defensive scheme would have to completely change and improve to the point where it's above-average instead of terrible. We need another scorer, and I think Murray could fit that. I think this team takes a huge jump with another scorer and could compete at the level we want them to. I think if we got a scorer, the defensive scheme took a massive jump, Ewing's substitutions improve, Beard and Sibley take a jump and produce at a very high level, we can compete and potentially make the tourney. But that's a lot to ask for. This roster doesn't have the talent of someone like a Xavier, obviously not Creighton or Nova, I think UCONN has a better roster, Butler, Providence, Seton Hall, and Marquette and St. John's are two that are very close. I think the Hoyas are above Marquette as Wojo might end up getting fired after this season and Marquette has emerged as the team I hate most in the new Big East and the Johnnies lose a lot of talent especially if LJ leaves, though that probably is/might be my bias. I think we are the same level as Butler without Tucker though I really like Coach Jordan's team and I think Aaron Thompson means so much to what they do, so that's probably an unpopular take on this board. A lot of time left in the offseason of course and a lot can happen, but I'm not going to be one of the irrational optimists who think this team is a tourney team. We aren't in the top half of the Big East and need a lot to go our way to prove we can make it. Until this team proves something, you would have to be completely irrational to say our current roster can compete for a tournament bid, in my opinion.

How should the team members interpret your post and how a "fan" feels about them?

In my view, they shouldn't de-prioritize or slow play a kid they just started recruiting a month ago especially when the said kid has an ability this program really needs... I'm hoping Evans took a statement like "haven't heard much from Gtown", put his own spin on it and then had to retract after pushback from Murray's camp... As others have stated only time will tell at this point...

Reading your way of expressing your feelings about hard-working college-age players for a team you root for makes me feel as if I've walked through a sewer. That a fan has no problem saying that it is disappointing and sad.
