Lets not forget that Mac was only a 3 star recruit. I have higher expectations from Beard than I did from Mac, specifically I expect better defense and a higher basketball IQ given the better HS competition. This board needs to realize that Beard is a beast and we are extremely lucky we landed him. I know he had a down spring/summer but he's out of this world right now.

...and Anthony Perry was ranked #5 nationally, played for storied program/coach and was a McD all-American. đ Very excited to have Beard and his uncle seems awesome.

I am excited to see what Beard can do next year with the Hoyas. He reminds me a little bit of Jagan, with a more developed offensive game. He seems like a hard nosed guy that will do whatever his team needs of him to get a win. If he can continue to develop his outside shot once he gets on campus I think he has a chance to be a big time player for Georgetown.

I agree, he seems like he has more body control than Mac and he is just as athletic. He makes smart decisions driving to the rim and relies on simple yet strong finishes rather than the fancier stuff you see from Mac. I'm not knocking Mac, I think he goes strong to the hoop as well, which is great, it's just I think he could have smarter layups when he gets to the rim if that makes sense.

Whatâs not to like about Beard? Crafty, uses his athleticism on D, scores and facilitates, plays hard. I am buying. Our last Whitney Young recruit had all the potential in the world but physically couldnât hold it together as a Hoya. Letâs hope Beard can and does.

Ah, but I had forgotten! Good call. Let's develop a Chi-town pipeline just like the one that dumps countless Loyola boys and New Trier girls into the dorms each fall.

Just a quick note for background on Beard. Whitney Young is one of about 6 magnet high schools within the Chicago Public School System. Magnet schools are part of an application/lottery process where kids from all across the city can apply, submit test scores, grades, references, etc. for admission. Walter Payton typically is recognized as the very best magnet school in Chicago from an academic perspective. Whitney Young, though, is not far behind and is a very good academic public school that is filled with students/families focused on academics, athletics, and college preparedness, moreso than traditional Chicago public schools.
Thought this might be helpful background on Beard. Quentin Richardson and Jahlil Okafor attended Whitney Young, as well as Hoya transfer, Paul White.
