Gtown isn't listed in this article Fwiw... Hopkins coach Ken Novak told Sports Headliners Monday morning coveted Royals shooting guard Kerwin Walton might choose the University of Minnesota as his college destination later this month.
Novak said Walton is likely to announce a decision in late April after selecting from a final list of Arizona, Creighton, Minnesota, North Carolina and Vanderbilt. Walton’s Hopkins teammate of a year ago, Zeke Nnaji, had a breakout freshman season at Arizona and is declaring for the NBA Draft.
Creighton was the first program to offer Walton a scholarship and with all its key players returning will be a preseason top five team next fall. North Carolina is one of college basketball’s “blue bloods” and coach Roy Williams has personally been recruiting Walton. Vandy coach Jerry Stackhouse, who was an accomplished NBA shooting guard, has also made a favorable impression on Walton.I don't take this list to be accurate, its a random Minnesota sports blogger who I believe just made a mistake in recounting his final list. We know his final list is six teams not five, no one else has reported another list for him besides that one. Also Kerwin was been engaging with hoya fans occasionally on IG, which doesn't mean much since recruits do it all the time, but I think we would be able to tell by now if we were out of the running. I mean to me it seems simple, if you get an offer and maybe cash from blue blood UNC you go there. If you want to stay home being a Minneapolis kid at local basketball powerhouse Hopkins then you stay with Pitino and the Golden Gophers. Then Arizona would be next on the list, when have we beaten Arizona for a recruit? Creighton, Vanderbilt (Stackhouse) and us are a toss up. We have a chance but I think the odds are stacked against any team not UNC or UM.

UNC doesn't have a scholarship as of now.
I think Arizona/Creighton are the teams to beat but think we have a chance. He'll get little to no time at both his freshman year so maybe we can get in his ear. No one stays home to play for Pitino so if UNC is out then I think we've got a shot.

Even with Alex O'Connell in the mix, Creighton will have plenty of playing time available for Walton his sophomore season. They are a guard heavy offense and will be losing several guys to graduation that season (Ty-Shon Alexander, Denzel Mahoney, Mitch Ballock, maybe Zegarowski to the draft too?). Regardless, there is definitely still an opening for Walton if he's willing to wait a season to play serious minutes, so don't knock them out of this race just yet.

UNC just opened up a scholarship with the Huffman transfer, and word is Roy Williams has started recruiting Walton again as of late. They're also in on Trey Wertz, but he looks like a strong Notre Dame lean. This might be a hard one for us to pull off.

Earlier today, Eric Bossi predicted UNC on Rivals. Sigh.

Never thought we had a shot here. UNC will now grab our top guard choice three years in a row. Like taking candy from a baby.

Is that the same day as B Murray? Excuse the pessimism speaking, but that date may be shaping up as a day of pain...

Well, to point to some evidence, the staff has done well with getting two commits on the same day a couple times already. First two cycles it happened and this year TB and KB were relatively close this year iirc and let’s hope we get another double commitment soon!

Kerwin and Brandon clearly coordinated their announcements for the same day.
Georgetown is the only school on both lists.
Ergo there can be only one outcome. . .
