You haven't been watching closely at all. If it were all about "winning now" then he wouldn't be benching and taking PT away from LeBlanc. Let's at least be factual. I love LeBlanc but he didn't play well in his minutes on Saturday. He just didn't! He played 11 minutes and had ZERO REBOUNDS! He also blew at least two defensive rotations that lead directly to layups. He wasn't making the energy and effort plays that are his usual bread & butter. If Blair entered the game and shot 0/6 in 10 minutes and blew defensive assignments, as a coach I wouldn't be looking to put him back in the game. I use Blair as an example because shooting is his role and effort & energy is LeBlanc's role. That goes for any starter who is struggling in their role. Some times you gotta hold players accountable. Akinjo' situation is harder to pull minutes from because he did play a pretty good first half and less depth at his position. Other players like Pickett & Alexander can play in place of LeBlanc. Yurt7 situation is that's he just that much better then anyone else on the roster at his role.... Except in this particular game, Allen had the best stretch of any guard and brought the team back, took the lead and then was replaced by Akinjo and the rest is history. Akinjo seems to be the only player that Ewing won't sit for poor play.

Clearly, Ewing inherited a program that was not doing well. So I definitely think you have to give him a lot more leeway than Howard at Michigan. That being said, Howard is in Year 1 and Ewing is in Year 3. Most new coaches who make an impact have their teams on upward trajectories by Year 3, it remains to be seen whether that will happen. So the time for excuses is waning. Next season, all scholarship players will be Ewing recruits. Time for results.
As an aside, I think the foulness of the latter JT3 years has people forgetting that we actually did have quite a nice run there, even if you didn't like the JT3 system. From 2006-2015 (ten seasons), we made the NCAA tournament 8 times, had the Sweet 16 and Final Four, had a bunch of high seeds, etc. I realize JT3 was crucified for the bad NCAA losses, but I think if we could hire a coach that would guarantee those kinds of results from 2020-2029, we'd be all in.
(I realize JT3's last few seasons were poor, and not saying he would have replicated that success if he stayed (odds were certainly against it), so I am not trying to restart that debate. But, the fact is we were a relevant program not THAT long ago, and it seems to be forgotten around here a lot.)

I’m increasingly dissatisfied with Ewing’s results, but never minimize the atrocity that was Georgetown basketball in April 2017. It was going to be a long, slow climb back to respectability no matter who was hired to succeed that dumpster fire.

Akinjo seems to be the only player that Ewing won't sit for poor play. Allen was hit or miss/feast or famine on almost every possession. Either a team would score or he would make a crazy turnover/decision that a 5th year PG shouldn't be making. Gardner's energy and effort had more of an impact then Allen...

Cite one example of a problem with the analysis and come to the blanket conclusion that he hasn't been watching closely at all, and essentially dismiss everything else. He hasn't watched last year I know that. You can't say we are trying to win now when your best player/starter has been relegated to the B team (gets a DNP in one game though healthy and 11 mintues in another). That is not trying to win now. That is trying to lose now. If LeBlance starts and gets his normal 30 minutes we are likely undefeated even with other's playing poorly. Although I will submit that with Leblanc on the A team that that would elevate Akinjo and Mac's game. In what world is trading a 6-7 all world players in LeBlanc for a 6-3 role player in Jagan a fair trade? Obviously Patrick is sacrificing the now for the future and some pay off down the the road this season and next. But it is in no way "Win now".

And while hiring Phil Martelli may have been a great move for Howard, Ewing did bring Louis Orr onboard for a similar role... And if you think Louis Orr can carry Martelli’s clipboard...

Didn't realize you attended both Georgetown & Michigan practices, coaches meetings and sit on the bench of each during both team games. It's the only way you can validate your statement.

If Orr is supposed to be the strategist why is he found pacing around the perimeter of the huddle on TO's?

Hiring Orr was one of Pat’s first big decisions and, at the time, it seemed baffling. It looks as if that one is turning out exactly as we feared.

The bad situation just got a LOT worse. Akinjo and LeBlanc are off the basketball team for the remainder of the season (translation: forever).

In light of the breaking news that Josh LeBlanc and James Akinjo are no longer members of the basketball team, it is certainly not a "win now" situation. But we are farther away from true competitiveness now than we seemed to be a few hours ago.
