McClung shouldn't start...anybody watching can see that...turnover machine...defensive liability...can't shoot...nothing personal...I can't stand watching fundamentally unsound, give it away basketball, and that's after 50 years as a season ticket holder...we just play stupid basketball...horrible pasing team...never saw a pass they couldn't throw away...just have no basketball sensibility...just watch patient PSU was in the half court, often ending with a last second, in rythmm 3...whereas we get nervous after one or two passes and chuck up some out of the flow shot...i'm just disgusted by how inefficiently we play...if we don't stay home on shooters and get the turnover problem solved we ain't going anywhere...

No defense last year and no defense this year. If you don’t guard the three point line. You want win many games. The defense is a total embarrassment last year and still this year.they don’t play any defense at all it’s pitiful the way they play defense.ewing isn’t the answer it’s showing he can’t get them to play defense, they want to run and gun but not guard. I don’t see this team in ncaa either the way they play defense isn’t good enough. It’s ashamed this team has some good players but he can’t get them to guard anyone wide open three over and over and over wide open threes nit unless drastic changes are made defensively. And I am not making a judgment because they lost to penn state. I seen this trend from first year Ewing was here it is not getting any better on defense so by nit again

This was abysmal basketball. Ewing better stop the bullcrap of two units, this is not the NBA. You better play your best players. McClung has regressed , completely lost during the game. Has Mac really regressed? He looks like the exact same player as last year. He has only ever done one thing well, and that is draw fouls on drives and make free throws. And even then he never makes the basket on the drive and often gets rejected or otherwise turns it over. I have never understood the love for his game. On a top 25 team, he is at best the first guard off the bench, since he can do a passable impression of a 1 or a 2 for short stints. If he would take better shots and make 40+% from 3pt, and/or defend somewhat competently, he could make a case for a larger role. He has no business starting and should be recruited over. There is a role for the kid, but it is not as a primary scoring option

Last game he did that and the players came out separately. Thanks, first time I knew we were live streaming these this year.

If we are looking for a positive from tonight its that there should be no way Yurt should leave for the NBA. He got manhandled by college kids.
I still cant believe that nobody on the staff went back and watched that NC State vs Penn State game from 2 years ago when Yurt dominated and said hey maybe we should do that. Pat is determined to prove that low block centers are still a thing when they really aren't.

Ewing needs to start LeBlanc from the beginning of the game. He brings energy and the team chemistry should be better. Akinjo, McClung, Pickett, LeBlanc and 7 Dont know why Mosley is playing so much! We dont have back court players with a scoring mentality, except Akinjo! Very shocking game tonight!

We are just too predictable. You can see how opposing coaches seem much more prepared for us than we are for them. Opponents have seen that Akinjo makes this team run so they are doubling on him. Once he is taken out there is no one to run the offense. And opponents have also easily figured out our man defense (or lack thereof). Like almost everyone on this Board I was excited about this year's team since we had 3 BE rookie first team players plus Yurt, several good transfers, and a couple of quality frosh. Yet we seem to be regressing the longer we play. Add the DePaul blowout, the Harvard NIT debacle to these first 3 games and Houston we have a problem.

Way to mount a second half comeback. This team looks like it's back at square one. No one should talk at all about our chances of making the NCAA Tournament until we prove something. Thus far, this team has proved nothing, other than it looks at the moment like a second division team. DePaul belted Iowa. What does this say for us? Looking like we may be the worst team in the BE I didn't want to write that, but I was thinking it.

I will say again.....things are never as bad or as good as they seem. Tonight was disappointing, but there is a tomorrow.

Tonight was disappointing, but there is a tomorrow. i agree...im not gonna trash the entire team/staff as some of the fanbase is doing tonight. The taste of this loss should motivate the team the rest of the way. Take care of Georgia St...maybe being at the Garden against Texas will bring their mojo back. But giving up on the team in game 3 is ludicrous. Keep working!

Let's see: 1. show up to the game late - CHECK 2. throw the ball away as much as possible - CHECK 3. guard open 3 point shooters from inside the lane - CHECK 4. play like you are allergic to running anything resembling an offense - CHECK 5. as mentioned a few pages ago, pretend the shot clock is 8 seconds instead of 30 - CHECK At this rate this is going to be a long season. "A game like this is going to be good for both teams, right Donny?" My goodness. P.S. - McClung, Mosely and Pickett have 10 points between them with a minute left. Can't get that kind of offensive production out of 60% of your starting lineup and expect to win over even mediocre teams. Well stated post of a list of a number of things we do so poorly. For the past few years we have been so careless with the ball and play very little to any team defense. So I just expect that we need to overcome those issues every game. What is hard to explain is how do we come out so flat at home against a team that will be fortunate to be .500 in the Big Ten? One other point is at the end of JT III tenure, people crucified him over his offensive patterns. Now we chuck it up so fast, that you'd think the the basketball was on fire. We show no discipline nor patience to make the defense work. Based on how poorly we have played the first 3 games of the year at home, this team will need to improve significantly or the only post season tournament we will get an invite to will be the Big East tournament.

But we just don’t have enough consistent outside shooting. I'm not sure I can make that statement based on the lack of any organized offense to reliably get outside shooters good open looks tonight. Agree the team needs an offensive scheme that gets our guys open looks (we don’t right now). But we also need enough players who can reliably make outside shots when open, especially threes. Who on our roster is reliable rather than streaky? Maybe Akinjo. Anyone else?

Major issues tonight were turnovers and poor defense. Unfortunately, this has been the hallmark of our teams for many years. Press defense was good. Transition and half court defense was terrible.

We made 4 three pointers. PSU made 13. The only reason this game wasn't worse was PSU's turnovers. Forget the rest of the OOC games. How in the world will we beat BE teams that can light it up from outside, which is most of the BE teams?

McClung and Blair are our primary SGs. They were a combined 2-10, and 0-4 from three. Add that Mosely and Allen are not offensive minded and we have a bad outcome. We are not going to win games if we can’t hit open threes. Mac looks lost out there, I can’t explain why.
