Creighton up 15 at Nova with 5 to go in the 1st half. No worries, Nova will get all the calls in the second half.

X out rebounded SHU 51-22, 18-0 on second chance points. Jones killed SHU inside. McKnight landed and hyperflexed his left knee, couldn't put weight on it going off the floor. Did not look good.

The BET is going to be as open as I can ever remember it. Probably everyone but us and St Johns is capable of winning multiple games. Should be quite interesting.

Creighton smokes Nova. This and the X win today show what effort and aggressive basketball can do in this league.

Our limited roster is not built for the BET. Hard to play on back to back nights. I’ll root for them though.

Even if we were playing better, we still would have trouble winning on back to to back to nights. Assuming no semis this year, it’ll be at least 6 years, and 8 since the last final if I’m not mistaken. That’s really a sad statement and should be totally unacceptable, but it’s the reality.

PC and DePaul winning on the road at Butler and Marquette? 4-0 for road underdogs today? Let’s hope we can have similar road luck tmo.

Man Tyrique Jones was incredible today. He made every single play he needed, playing with that fire that Xavier desperately needed. This is where Xavier starts to make that run that they did last year also.

Seton Hall’s loss keeps alive the streak/fact that no Big East team has EVER gone undefeated in a regular season (41 years now)

DePaul shoots 12-23 from the line. Eek. I’m sure they’ll correct that before they play us. DePaul might be the best 1 win team in league history. They’ve had a lead at some point in most of their games. As far as PC, solid win and they are 5-4 now. I think Butler continues to slide back to where people thought they’d be, and another loss during the week vs Villanova seems likely. Just reinforcing the point we should have beaten them.

Seton Hall still has a chance (which we can deny them Wednesday) of being only the third team in the Big East since the double round robin format started in 80-81 to only have one regular season conference loss. The others were St. John’s/Mullin in ‘85 (we administered the loss in the famed “sweater game”) and UConn/Ray Allen in ‘96 (we administered the loss mostly courtesy of our Allen). That UConn team was the only team to have only one loss, conference tourney included — unless you want to count us (and I do) in ‘80/single round robin/5-1 and won tournament.

Providence coach Ed Cooley made a bold move Saturday.
He benched his best player so he could start his two biggest players side by side against No. 16 Butler.
Then the struggling Friars saw the strategy pay off. Luwane Pipkins hit six straight free throws in the final minute, finished with 22 points and helped Providence hold on 65-61 for its first road victory over a ranked team in nearly three years.
“My team’s desperate,” Cooley said. “I told them whoever is the most desperate wins most of the time, and I’m coaching the most desperate team in the country.”
