Looks like Nova is suffering from the same alternate jersey fate these last couple of games

Providence with a 3-0 BE start after a OT road win at Marquette. Totally saw that one coming. Just makes sense, doesn't it. Once they took the ball out of Pipkins hands and in the case of tonight he didn't even play that much because of fouls the offense completely changed. Their coach made a tough decision and it worked out. The talent was obviously always there.

Maybe, Providence should keep Cooley. 😉👍🏻

It’s frustrating watching these BE games and seeing how deep this conference is and how fun each of these games are, but feeling like as a Hoya fan, we will be an underdog in pretty much every contest. The more I watch the more convinced I am 5-13 is in the cards for us.

If by the end of this week we sit at 0-4, it would be a distinct possibility.

The more I watch the more convinced I am 5-13 is in the cards for us. Comes down to toughness. All 4 teams that played tonight got punched in the mouth at some point in the game, got off the mat, and came back swinging. When things are going good for us, we look relaxed and poised. Closest maybe was the OK St. game on the road. But so far this year, in tough spots, we've not shown a consistent ability or desire yet to match our opponent in terms of physicality and mental toughness. Need our leaders to show up tomorrow night and lead.

Tough loss for Creighton gotta protect a 10 point 2nd half lead at home...
Nice win for Nova...

If by the end of this week we sit at 0-4, it would be a distinct possibility. It’s a 50/50 proposition I’d say. Seeing Villanova trail for 36 mins on the road then win was impressive. No way do I see us beating them this weekend (nor Creighton for that matter). So pretty much it’s a coin flip on the St Johns game. I know I’m glass half empty more often than not, but I don’t see us being any better than 2-6 once January ends, and that assumes we beat St Johns. To me there’s 3 losses to Nova, Creighton, and Butler with a possible win against Xavier or Marquette. I’ll be happy to be proven wrong but my eyes are overpowering my heart right now.

Also playing the Reeves kid regardless of how he's shooting was a nice move, they need him to get his full confidence back...

I’m just at a loss for words. I can’t believe this Providence team stunk it up for almost two months and now look like world beaters. The most critical people of the team were Friar fans themselves who declared the season over week prior to that Texas game. I haven’t seen this type of turnaround from OOC to conference play that many times over the years, particularly if no new player was added to the roster for conference games to explain such a difference. Begrudgingly have to give them props.

That being said they are a made and missed FT away in the final seconds of both games from being 1-2 instead of 0-3. Also if you look at the combined records of their first 3 opponents is 1-6 (our first two opponents are 5-0, thanks in part to playing us). Regardless, I give them a lot credit for their start and I think all the Cooley haters should be silenced for the time being.

Don't you just mean the Cooley hater? Just one person making a lot of noise, and he seems to have gone quiet of late.

Seton Hall looked shaky at the end against pressure, but closed out the game emphatically with a tough road win at Xavier.
As rough as a 1-2 start for us sounds, it's still good for T-5th in a conference that is likely going to send 6 if not 7 to the Dance. Big time opportunity for us on Saturday.

Our two losses are to the hottest and undefeated teams in the conference

Looks like Nova is suffering from the same alternate jersey fate these last couple of games I liked the 1971 alternate jerseys they wore against Kansas, Those are fine and of course the 1985 jerseys for obvious reasons. The other alternative jerseys need to go. I am hoping for the 1985 look on Saturday.

I think this was a good result for us. At this point Butler, Nova, and Seton Hall and probably Marquette are set for the tournament. So we will be competing with Xavier, Creighton, and possibly PC (their non conference might make them have to go 12-6 though). So I think the better we compare to Xavier and Creighton the better our odds are of getting a bid.

Big East is very strong this year and ACC is very weak which should free up some spots.

Agree with everything except Marquette... they are probably in the same boat as Xavier/Creighton/us right now (i.e. could play their way to a decent seed or could collapse their way out of the field). All 4 teams are in that 8-11 seed range right now.

Really hopeful a Big East Team at least makes it to the Elite 8, Final Four would be terrific.
