Dante missed 4 free throws on 39 attempts last year. He has missed 3 on 8 attempts this year. I hope he can regain his form and rebuild his confidence.

Harris needs to play under control more and not force the action as much. When he is a distributor he looks so much better than when he is forcing shots. Still high on this kid, but for now it might help to split time with Beard and grow. Did not have that option last year with the loss of J Harris. I think it's going to be really hard to keep Beard off the court. Nice thing was last night there was a brief stint w/Harris and Beard on the court at the same time. So if you can give Beard minutes and still give Harris his share that's ideal. I think we also have to remember Harris is still just a Sophomore. Hard to understand where he will end up. Is he the guy we saw in the BE tourney, the player that struggled much of the regular season (not saying that's on him he was thrown into a starting role) or is he somewhere in between? What I do know is he has to figure out that jumper. At his size if he can't keep defenders honest with his shot it's going to severly impact his ability to be successful driving.

My thoughts on Dante, FWIW... Coming off the BET MOP, I imagine he is feeling that he needs to show that he can continue to play at that level. And, combined with a young team, I am sure he feels he needs to carry the team early on.
I am hoping as the season progresses and he sees that he has some nice talent around him, he will do what he does best -- move the ball up the floor exceptionally quickly, play tough D, distribute the ball, and hit an occasional 3 to keep the defense honest. No need to force into the lane for shots among the tree or force quick threes.
Couple bad turnovers early last night, but that's fine. Get them out of the way now. LOL.
Even the naysayers have to admit that he is lightning quick moving the ball up the court. Keep working and hustling!!!

I was impressed with Beard last night. As the game wore on he looked to become more comfortable and more aggressive in his role. He seems to play at a more controlled pace than Dante, but still has enough quickness/explosiveness to get by people. I think he is definitely a rotational player for this team all year. It is nice to have some depth at that spot in case of foul/injuries issues, or just a bad game. I think he took one long three last night when the game was well in hand, that he probably didn't need to take but other than that I thought his decision making was excellent. Dante had some struggles last year during the regular season as he grew into his role but he was still clearly their best option at the point all of last year. The Hoyas really did not have any depth behind him once the other Harris left the team. Having depth helps give the team options and pushes both players to continue to make good decision and earn their playing time.

I need to do a better job of watching the team than I've been doing, but from what I have seen and read stat wise I am pleased with Dante's progress. The biggest thing has been cutting his turnover rate from a concerning 20% to under 9%, which is strong for a PG. His PER (Player Efficiency Rating) was very poor last year, but is more than proficient right now for this season despite a very poor game against Dartmouth. He still can do more to slow down and run offense but some of that is up to coaching and the question of whether or not we really have a set offense. His Assist to Turnover ratio is 4, which is great. Very hard to read into that stat in particular and really any of these stats after just 3 games but it's a positive start. He's going to need to continue to grow up quickly if we are to win a decent number of conference games this year, but I'm not complaining at all so far.

He's been more like the Dante of last year since and, seemingly, is improving by the game. I have no concerns about this guy. He works his butt off and is as competitive as anyone. On top of that, he takes his defensive role very seriously/personally. LOVE this dude.

He had a terrible efficiency rating and was out of control at times. His most recent two games have been so much more efficient and less forced. Needs to continue to improve and play more efficiently. Has shown the ability to grow and perform when he's able to let the game come to him and take care of the ball.

That's my definition of, "Dante of last year." Yes, we will need him to continue to be that guy. So far, it looks as though he will be.

Dante needs to: - Cut down on the turnovers -- improving, but let's see against better teams
- Improve three point shooting. Just a matter of time and work IMO.
- Improve finishing at the rim. He has the quickness and the athleticism, just needs to learn the angles.
He has ability to get past anyone, which we haven't had in forever. He's the quickest guard we've had in ages. He defends. He works hard. I don't really get your criticism of "He still can do more to slow down and run offense" because the offense seems to actually run far better with him out there simply because he is willing to give up the ball. Our offense runs better when everyone is moving -- the method of a point guard pounding the ball so they get the stats is not something I want and not something Dante does. As one of the first people on this board who brought up efficiency stats, etc., along with CO Hoya and a couple others, I think it is really, really weird the level of focus on efficiency for Harris and seemingly only Harris. He was a medium-usage freshman last year who improved drastically over the course of the season, and the sources of his inefficiency are things that are relatively improvable. Meanwhile, we had a lot of higher usage upperclassmen who were inefficient who seemed to get a lot of love from the people who thought Dante was a disaster. I'm not sure what to tell you if you can't see the potential. There's SOOOOOO much value in being able to get to the rim like he does and with the ability to elevate once he's there. He just wasn't used to actual big guys in his way. There's a weird amount of negative focus on him and a lot of forgiveness for everyone else. And that largely comes down to a couple of posters who hated that he was recruited, hate Ewing and have their own pet favorites.

I really like Dante's defense. Not the biggest guard and he may have trouble with skilled bigger guards, but his effort is there, and his quickness allows him to stay with his man and recover when necessary. Reminds me of Mosley in terms of heart and effort. Just needs to play within himself and not force shots like he did against Dartmouth.

You may want to scroll up and see Dante leads the Big East is turnover to assist ratio so far this year with 13 assists and 3 turnovers. I don’t quite believe the 3 turnovers is correct, but that is what the Big East stats office has.

The official box scores show zero turnovers vs Dartmouth an Siena so, all 3 were against AU, where he had 4 assists. 5 assists vs Dartmouth and 4 vs Siena. One poster wanted to count missed or blocked layups as turnovers against Dartmouth but if you only apply that rubric to one offensive player, it ain't fair..

Dante came on strong in the latter part of the season. If I were him, I would go back and watch some of those films. I know the team ha a different chemistry this year and his offense may not be as crucial to the team’s success, but I would love to see him knocking down 3’s consistently.

I'm not quite sure how the box score had him with no TOs against Dartmouth, but even with giving him credit for some wayward plays that probably ended up on someone else's stat sheet, he's been vastly improved. That said, we haven't played big and fast defenses yet, so we will see.

He was getting wide open shots but everything was just a little short, hitting rim. I think it will pay dividends in the future, once he masters the Curtis Staples 3pt shot.
