I would think he’d come in and have his role defined from the hop. Akinjo was a late add and at the time, a real coup. Problem for the staff was they didn’t spend much time recruiting him, getting to know who he really was. Recruit a kid for a year plus and you’ll get to see his true colours. Taking Harris allows the staff to build repore a full year before he’s expected to play minutes for the program. This is the type of player that could be molded into a solid contributor. That's a solid point IDenj about the chance for the staff and Harris to develop their relationship and talk about how he can improve his game before stepping on campus. He also has a very good stable of coaches like Coach Staples and his AAU coaches with tremendous knowledge & experience that can help him improve in the areas that Coach Ewing and the staff deem need improvement. Another facet to consider that goes hand in hand with your point is that since Harris signed early, he can watch the Hoyas games over and over again to gain a strong understanding of the team's style of play that Coach Ewing is emphasizing. He will be able to come in with a much better understanding of the team philosophy. From the highlights and articles about Harris it seems like he is a very accomplished 3 point shooter. With the way the team now moves the ball he should get some open 3's as a freshman, and if he can knock down open shots it will help him get minutes. It looks like he probably needs to develop more physically and gain some strength so he probably might not be a guy who hunts his own shots against stronger Big East players but if he can take care of the ball and make open shots, he will be an important part of the team next year.

Harris has a nice jump shot and knows how to get it. I like this version of fast action Hoya basketball with multiple scoring threats. Just like RJ Davis (and not saying that Dante is necessarily anything close), a guy that can hit open shots and dish will help us. After watching a lot of ball over the years and now seeing Mac take center stage, give me a guy who wants and can hit shots any day. There are plenty of good shots in this Hoya offense. Last, assuming that pic wasn't airbrushed, Dante looks like he's putting in the work in the weight room. Good for him. Can't wait to welcome him to the Hilltop.

Wow, pretty impressive. 48 points is 48 points. I apologize if this has already been discussed, but does his game remind you of JA's? Herky Jerkey, by the defender on his heels, take it to the hole. Hit a jumper.
Coaching staff can spot talent and can coach. Looking forward to the rest of this year and the recruits for next.

It should translate. Keep practicing those 3s.

Isn’t high school a 32 minute game as well?

Fair observation, they weren't there for Mac either but its the repetition and execution that I believe is crucial going forward.

Agree, just like Mac’s shots at that level. That said, just like Mac, Dante has some elite skills. He has Akinjo’s ball control, but with elite speed. Akinjo was quick twitching around the post, but was slow in the open floor and had no bounce. Who I think about when I see highlights like that is a player like Mulmore. He killed juco, but the vast majority of his points came from layups and FTs. Although reports were that he practiced it a lot, he struggled with his perimeter game at the BE level. Dante’s percentages away from the basket are great, which show shooting touch, and that translates to other levels. Has Pat found another diamond in the rough? We’ll see soon enough.

My friend that I grew up with is a assistant coach at Dante high school Shane Williams is his name.williams played his college ball at university of Tennessee,he played high school in my city I live at in Johnson City, Tennessee at science hill high school the school Omar Wattad played at that played for Hoyas.anyway Shane is a great coach and told me he is working with Dante getting him ready for the big east next year.i am going to watch Dante play Jan 10.i live about a hour away from the school that’s in Morristown Tennessee.dante is the best point guard in the state of Tennessee.i am looking forward to seeing him play in a couple weeks.i will give a full detail of his performance after I watch him play live.shane told me he is good really good and I know Shane knows talent.so he is a steal for Hoyas like mac was under the radar, mac was ranked 276 in top 300.shows throw the rankings out the window.i will post a update after I see him in a couple weeks.merry Christmas to everyone and go Hoyas.

If he can hit outside shots and distribute at a high level I’m happy. Finishing at the rim in the Big East will be a lot more difficult.

I think the Mulmore example is an interesting one, especially since he was listed a couple inches taller than Harris, was legitimately fast and got very little at the rim in BE play. Anyways, kid looks like an interesting prospect and I hope he pans out above all our expectations. Would love to hear more about handles, court vision, decision making and toughness than being able to score 40 plus against what looked like lesser competition, nearly entirely at the rim.

Hopefully will have the opportunity to study game tape of Allen. Would like him to come in with a dribble-pass first mentality and let the scoring come to him. I’d like to see our offense continue to move the ball this way moving forward and he certainly has the quickness to get into the lane and swing the ball to the wings. Hoping we convince Williams this is the place for him, he would have enormous opportunities here as a freshman

I could be wrong but his videos lately suggest he's more a scoring guard and less a pass first type - I mean 48 points is a lot for a facilitator in a 32 min game - Maybe he's his teams primary option or his competition just allows it, I don't know, however we just said goodbye to a ball hawk are we saying hello to another?

You have to look at who he is playing with. Can't be a distributer if you're distributing to guys that can't score it. I'm sure at the next level, like most kids, he'll do whatever his coaches ask him to do.
