If Jamorko played to his potential every night, he would be Kevin Durant like. He is not Kevin Durant. His game is still developing because it is inconsistent. We just need Jamorko to become more and more consistent. We are seeing progress, but that progress is not linear.

So true, Mac, Jamorko and Javon all need that consistency. They have talent, but you don’t know what you are going to get on a given night.

I felt like the earlier games were Blair’s audition and he was just so cold. A shooter has to come in and make shots. He had a nice three off the bench in the second half against Duke.

And never saw the ball again. And the next time down Akinjo (I think, could have been McClung) drove around the left side past a Blair pick and instead of passing back to him at the top of the 3 point line where he was coming dribbled straight into traffic at the basket where he had no good options and threw it away. Ewing was livid - you could read his lips “HIT THE OPEN MAN” from my seats across the court. Honestly, the refs’ thievery in the last 6 minutes of the first half and Duke’s aggressive start sped the Hoyas up to where they started forcing things. For players like Pickett (and McClung to some extent) that includes a lack of attention to making the right play when it presents itself.

Blair is a streak shooter - have to feed that streak! We absolutely sped up and even panicked at times. Hopefully we learn from it.

There were several possessions in which an open Blair was an option if we had the awareness to find him.

I really enjoyed how nuts the starters went on the bench when Jahvon kept nailing 3s.

Jamorko had a great game. Stats won't do it justice. Excellent shot selection. Crashing the boards. Plus defense. When his confidence catches up, it's going to be fun to watch.
So great to see Jahvon have the offensive game that he did and at a time when his team couldn't have needed it more. Here's to hoping that his confidence gets a boost as well because his team is going to need him to be a threat.

Much better shooting mechanics tonight for Blair. Feet & body were better, pointed more towards the rim on his shots and he stepped into his shots.
Post game interview, Coach Ewing said he had a long conversation with Blair after their shoot around and told him he had to shoot it when ever he's open with confidence (paraphrasing). Whatever Coach Ewing said it worked, snapping him out of his season starting 8 game funk.
Pickett was outstanding as two way player. Great defensively with helpside & recovery. Was able to Switch on to smaller guards and shot off their water. Picked his moments offensively. He could actually be more aggressive offensively. The young man just drips talent and upside. Has all the tools to play in the Association!

I’ve asked this before and I’ll ask again....did anyone think our offense and ball movement looked a little more fluid with Mac out of the game? I am not saying that we are better without Mac....I just think that when he starts hunting his shot it can often hurt us more than help.
I thought Blair did an excellent job looking for his shot today without forcing anything.

I am not saying that we are better without Mac....I just think that when he starts hunting his shot it can often hurt us more than help. I thought Blair did an excellent job looking for his shot today without forcing anything. Nothing out of the ordinary with what the defense was giving. It looked like it would look with one alpha (Omer) instead of two (Omer & Mac) on offense, leading to SJU doubling Omer with one player in front and one in the back when they set up in the half-court defense, then the ball moving along the perimeter looking for the obviously open beta player who didn’t exactly shoot every time they got the ball in position to shoot and thus a lot of passing. Add to that that Omer, who was ineffectively trying finesse shots while doubled and tripled to begin the game, finally was passing it out of the double team, which led to his 4 assists, and the offense was more fluid. There would’ve been more assists, but we missed a crazy amount of open 3s to start the game (but so did SJU). Add to that that their full-court defense was ineffective vs press-practiced GU and our offense looked more fluid. I liked that when the shot clock was around the teens and no one had taken the open 3, one of the guards would penetrate to the paint, see what the defense was giving and either shoot the small jumper in the paint or pass it out, instead of taking the long 2s. Very smart plays... IMO it could’ve been a blow-out, but the good, open shots were just not falling in the first half, although some of the shots looked tentative. My MVP for the game was co-shared by Blair obviously and Allen, who was all over and doesn’t get enough credit for his creative, smart baskets.

Totally agree with your assessment as well as you your love for Allen. Thought Jagan also did a really nice job holding down the fort while Allen was saddled with foul trouble.
That being said, the extra pass was being made yesterday....that doesn’t always happen with Mac. When this team shares the ball....we are so much better!!
