Holmgren has had really nice things to say about Coach Ewing ever since the Hoyas started recruiting him, so I would not be surprised at all to see Georgetown make his top 7, but I don't think this kid ever ends up coming to Georgetown. He is one of the highest rated recruits in the country and will have all the blue bloods chasing him and I am sure his family/friends/handlers are telling him he is a one and done player and that going to Duke/Kentucky/UNC or a similar school is going to help him the most getting the the NBA. Until the Hoyas start seeing more success on the court and bring the brand back nationally, I think the teams need to be built on the 3 or 4 star kids who are staying for at least 2 years and really know they need a coach/staff that can develop their skills.

WE definitely make the top 7. We always do. Unfortunately the top 1 is all that matters.

I hope this young man sees the value of going to Georgetown and chooses to do so.

I dont think any of those 3 end up on his list actually. Holmgren is a different kid it appears. I see alot of sites say Gonzaga is the one to beat, and Purdue is up there too

I love his game and think he would benefit from working with Ewing as a 4, but it is hard for me to get excited about being anything other than him committing to the Hoyas. Tracking the prospects has been a waste of time. We get who we get and those come out of the woodwork. Unannounced!

Chet Holmgren without a doubt would turn us into a contender right away. His highlights are in this article: sidelinesports.report/

Holmgren has one of the oddest bodies I can recall. He is so, so thin. But his skill level and athleticism for his height/length - really exceptional. I can't imagine him picking Georgetown when he could likely go to any school in the country, or make around a half million dollars in the G League. But he has consistently been positive about Georgetown throughout his recruiting, so who knows? My guess is that we are going to see more and more guys at Holmgren's level of talent making the new higher paying G League choice over the next few years. Even if they want a college degree - one year on campus does not get them very close to a degree, and Holmgren level talents are all "one and done" guys unless something goes really wrong in their freshman seasons. Hard to be very hopeful, but until he picks a school/G League, we might as well hold out at least a little hope.

Gonzaga has been thought of as the frontrunner and hadn't seen Memphis in the chatter.

Yes, he certainly is thin, but wasn't that also the criticism of Kevin Durant a few years back, and he turned out ok.

As of now, he has only taken two official visits: Gonzaga and Ohio State. In addition, he’s visited Minnesota several times of the unofficial capacity as he lives close to the school He was very positive about his visit to Gonzaga pointing out the atmosphere at the ‘Kraziness in the Kennel’ event which took place on October 5th of 2019. Holmgren’s close friend as well as teammate [AAU and school], Jalen Suggs, is signed with Gonzaga and has been very vocal at getting his running mate to Spokane. Ohio State’s official visit with Holmgren also went very well. He didn’t get to watch a basketball game but he witnessed one of the nation’s top football programs hit the field on September 21st of 2019 when he was on campus. Chris Holtmann offered over one year ago and has been making a major push since. Obviously the current favorite is the Minnesota Gophers. The hometown program has been involved for more than two years and an official visit isn’t needed as he has grown up around the school and his father, Dave, played for the Gophers from 1984-88 and still has significant ties to the program. stockrisers.com/s/50/the-nations-top-rated-junior-chet-holmgren-talks-recruitment-outlines-commitment-date

Maybe the most unique player in the class of 2021, 7-footer Chet Holmgren stands out as a one-of-a-kind big man. The product of Minneapolis (Minn.) Minnehaha handles the ball and shoots from deep like a shooting guard, but is also the best shot blocker in his class.
Currently ranked No. 4 overall in the rising senior class, Holmgren is down to a final seven that includes Georgetown, Gonzaga, Memphis, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina and Ohio State. Today, we are ranking the contenders for his services.
3. GEORGETOWN
Even though he is too young to have grown up watching Patrick Ewing perform in his prime, the experience Ewing has as one of the game’s all-time great centers isn’t lost on Holmgren. He has been on Georgetown’s campus unofficially, and holds Ewing and the efforts that he has put into recruiting him in high regard. Certainly, landing a player the caliber of Holmgren could be a complete game-changer for Ewing and the Hoyas.
