In related stories...
* CSTV has announced that for the first time in 26 years they are not nominated for a single ESPY award.
* CSTV is now hanging an Emmy Award banner above the urinals in the men's room.

The best of the best: czabe.com/backup/2004_vol1/esherick_ref_rant.mp3"For the referees in our league, and for our league, and for the adults that run our league to expect Mike Sweetney to put up with the contact that he has to put up in the post when he goes up to shoot, and to put up with the contact he has to absorb and deal with and be happy about and not have a referee call a foul, and then to have that same 20-year old watch our perimeter people guard people ... and get called for hand-checking every time we put our hands on somebody else is just absolutely, absolutely crazy. "It is absolutely crazy ... for our league to countenance that. And if anyone wants me to spell it I will. For our league to countenance forcing a 20-year old to have to put up with that crap and to permit adults that referee our games to get away with that is just doesn't make any sense. "I will pay the way to Washington D.C. of any official that wants to sit down and watch a game with me and see the crap that Mike Sweetney has to put up with. And I will pay a referee to sit in the post and let somebody beat the crap out of him and see how he likes it. See how his back likes it. See how his arms like it. Just because Mike is 6-8, 260 doesn't mean he doesn't hurt when he gets fouled and doesn't mean it's not a foul. It is a foul."

That was Esh's high point for sure... my personal low point was when after the St. John's loss (blowing a 15-point lead in 5 minutes) - I was quoted in the Wash Post waving the classifieds at Esh "Check out the want ads, Esherick!"
while it is fun to reminisce, I have agreed not to live in the past and to celebrate Esh for the fine Hoya that is.. Good Luck with new job, seriously!

Unfunny and gross. Esherick is a good person, not deserving of ridicule.

I will never understand why Esherick is so beyond reproach to many on this board. Most (if not all) of the ridicule is geared toward his coaching "abilities," his perceived arrogance towards everything from the media to the NIT tourney, and other specific incidents such as his Sweetney rant. I could continue, but it's not worth it. We have moved on. He has moved on. We are all better for it, I think.

If we - as Americans - can say all sorts of positive and negative things about our President, why can't we - as Hoya fans and alumns - say all sorts of positive and negative things about our (ex-) coach?
Nobody is trashing Esh as a man. Just as a coach, which I think is within our right to do so.
And besides, nobody is really trashing him at all here... just having a little fun at his expense. Have a sense of humor people.

I could continue, but it's not worth it. We have moved on. He has moved on. We are all better for it, I think. Esherick defended himself. If you talk to his peers and those in the media, they have always said Esh was a stand up guy and a very nice man. When people are attacking you personally, any real man would fight for himself. A lot of the crap he was receiving, including some from this board, was way over the line. Was he the best coach, not really. But there is a way to voice your displeasure with a coach without being a jerk and showing a lack of class. That is not what Georgetown is about. But there is always bad apples in the bunch. What did you expect Esh to do, just sit there like a donkey and let people just kick him in the tail. He defended himself. Esh is a good dude. There were just a lot of pricks with agendas who were personally attacking him, and he had to defend himself. I wish Esh the best. Always a Hoya.

However, Esh should be treated just the same as any other administrator who is subject to criticism from the student body, alum, and public when they are under performing. But the post in question wasn't even doing that; it was simply a JOKE, and a funny one too!

Some more reports come in from the early days at CSTV:
* During the middle of the press conference Esh walked off the podium to go to the bathroom.
* Esh tried to secure the exclusive rights to air "Rudy". He had Kevin Braswell negotiate the deal four different times, but he fell just short each time.
* The press conference was scheduled to last 40 minutes. The first 39 minutes went GREAT, although it simply fell apart in the last minute and he walked off the podium disappointed.

Of course everyone has the right to say what they want and make jokes as they see fit. The real issue is whether it is in good taste among Hoya fans. The obvious answer is "no."

This just in...
* CSTV will now be called CV. The 'S' and the 'T' decided to transfer to ESPN due to "personal issues".
* The President signed Esh to a 10-year extension and publicly stated that he was their man....
* Esh was later fired the same day and replaced by Dick Vitale III. CSTV is now #1 in the ratings.

I've got to say...excellent work JahidiHoya, keep them coming. In bad taste? This is a message board guys, and one of the tamest, least-in-bad-taste ones i've ever seen. A few jokes about some of the miseries we all went through during the esh years isn't a big deal. He's probably a good guy and all, but the things that happened to us in games which are being referenced are all true, ridiculous, and hilarious if you think about them with a good sense of humor.

The news keeps breaking!
* Ex-CSTV employee Craig Esherick in a recent interview said that he is a finalist for a VP position with ESPN. He is quoted as saying: "I'd be a heck of a VP for them."
