Govan just changes the dynamics of the team. I predict we will be a longer, faster, meaner team next year. We will be blowing teams out, you just wait and see.
By the way, had to wait almost a day to post about last night's game. Still don't know what to say about that lost. Scratching my head.

Yeah there was not a single legit banger on this team, except maybe flashes of Josh LeBlanc, who right now is more of a leaper and in the future could be a better-scoring Rodman. Most of the other Big East teams except maybe Creighton have a few good scorers and a few bangers--like Mamukelashvili for Seton Hall > who by the way is 19 yo. Yurtseven practices with the team right? If so, my hunch is he dusts Govan in practice every day, that may be one reason Ewing dogs Govan. Yurtseven is a physical player and a high-motor guy. Having said that, the mystery to me is: Ewing always seem to know what went wrong in postgame conferences. He knows the game. But he can't seem to fix it. My question is, is that because he's allowing other coaches to handle the offense, or just the chasm between knowing the game and being able to teach the game? I can't blame the players for repeated strategic mistakes which ought to have been ironed out over the year. We have a young team. In every environment (work, field, court, etc.) you need people with experience in navigating the playing field. We had a shortage of that in key roles this year. Don’t overcomplicate it. Kentucky has had classes of players who didn’t play as well as our frosh this year. It’s the nature of sports. Not to mention his roster is a collection of players with different play styles and personalities. I don't buy the young team argument at all for the types of lack of offensive strategy we had. Sure being young is a factor. Young teams go to the final four almost every year. Kentucky's pg this year is the age of a hs senior. Shout out to my man who dropped Duane Spencer's name, holy shizzle. He was in my class I think or around there. 6' 10 210 soaking wet

The help they had isn’t really high level.

As I write this, Nova has won, but Marquette and St. John's are out of the dance. Seton Hall is down 10 at half and three of the five teams in NIT from BE are out. That said, what made our loss to Harvard so painful was that the game exposed all of our weaknesses... poor defense, lack of rebounding effort, and sloppy passing. Pat kept our starters out too long in second half, when we were up five points which ultimately let Harvard back in the game. A real heartbreaker and sad end to an up and down season. I do want to wish our Seniors much success and happiness in whatever avenues they pursue and I have high hopes for next year!

It still amazes me that people look at a game where Govan scores 25 points in 24 minutes and blame him for the loss, especially when you consider the rest of the team went 1-12 from three point range.

I see your point, but he had 4 rebounds as we were out-rebounded by 9 as a team and Harvard scored at will in the lane. To paint him as without fault is equally erroneous.

We are better than we play. We're just too young right now.

I think if we wanted to get into the tourney and to have our guys ready. We needed to play a tougher pre-conference schedule.

Rebounding is a team job, and he’s not even our best individual rebounder. So to too heavily factor that in when he scored 25 points in 24 mins and went 4-9 from three on a night where lack of offense doomed us seems petty, but that’s just me.

Have been out of the country, finally able to watch. The two foul calls on Akinjo in the last minute were a joke. And a crime. A criminal joke.
