I just don't see how this ends up being a win. marquette needs to build momentum and start making their final push and that starts on their senior night, a game where they will be more motivated to play. Markus Howard will score like 60. I just don't see what would make Marquette lose this game. Govan would need to go off. Need some momentum for the nBEt and to avoid that terrible Wednesday night. Did the Villanova game look like a win in advance? Did it look like the Hoyas were going to be blown out last night? They play the game for a reason. Very true. But going into those games I could see something fishy. The spread was fishy to me last night and that scared me. Nova was a good matchup and there were some trends I saw that indicated that the upset was possible. But, that's true, I just don't see any room for optimism. Never expected the drastic blowout in those two, so maybe this one could be a close one. I'm hoping for the best, but can't say I'm expecting anything.

The spread was fishy to me last night and that scared me. The prediction sites (like KenPom) had DePaul as the slight favorite last night, so the 1.5 spread was in line with that. Georgetown was ranked better than DePaul, but the home court advantage was enough to make them a slight favorite. Of course, not a 30+ point favorite...

If we make our threes we win. If we don’t, we lose. The problem is we don’t have a consistent three point threat on our team. Not thrilled with our center hanging out on the perimeter too much to launch. A number of teams have a “money“ upperclassmen player (Ponds, Powell, Howard) that can carry them, but we don’t.

Marquette is a mess right now. That choke job on Wednesday night was as bad as anything the Hoyas have coughed up in the last decade. Howard is banged up and worn down, and their offense can collapse when Howard is struggling. Sure, Marquette will kill us if we play with the level of discipline we played with against DePaul. That performance probably does not beat a single team on our schedule. But if we get back to something approaching our normal game, we can definitely beat Marquette if a beat up Howard does not go off.

No longer sure what the Hoyas' normal game is at this point. Even in the wins other than against Nova, the Hoyas have not played that well for several games--effort has been there at times but the defense and the offense have been poor. While it is common to blast the Hoyas lack of a defense, a quick look at the offense shows that the decline has been on both sides of the court. It's been very inconsistent outside shooting. Govan is getting doubled and bullied and is missing shots and committing fouls. McClung is not shooting well (still at 28% from deep) and despite his effort makes some poor decisions on both offense and defense. Akinjo has been better but remains a small guard who cannot get his shot off inside. Pickett is in a horrible slump and seemingly out of the plans for at least this season. Malinowski can shoot and hustle but has certainly not played well in other aspects of the game. Mosley remains a defense first player. This team has always been lacking in consistent perimeter shooting. It comes and goes. Yes improved defense would help, but a terrible defensive team is not suddenly going to click after 30 games.

As an outsider, I think the DePaul game was clearly a fluke thing where Georgetown was plain and simple not ready and DePaul torched them. Georgetown just came off a thrilling (not to me, I was pulling for Seton Hall) Double Overtime win against Seton Hall. I think the Marquette game will be a better indication where Georgetown is at but Marquette has their own issues too. I think it will be a fun game to watch and this Conference Tournament is going to be insane.

Here with my son and nephew. Two years ago we did Indy / Butler, which turned out really well as you no doubt remember. Last year we did Omaha / Creighton, which was almost a special night. Hoping for the best tomorrow. Win or lose, great weekends / memories for all. For me, memories better after a W.

I really hope Seton Hall loses leading into our game. Their win on Weds leading into our game felt like it created a bad omen before we even tipped off in Chicago.
I don’t think it changes Marquette’s motivation that much, but if they see Nova lost or get word, it’s just another boost for them.

Just want to see us play with intensity, match them blow for blow. At least give us some reading to hold onto a shred of hope for the BET.

We went 0-3 in conference results on Wednesday.
I have a feeling it will be a lot better today, including a win from us.
9-9. Huge improvement this year. And still in the hunt...

Took a shot of Malort before the rally bus left Chicago. Poor life choices, but hopefully it wills the team to a win.

It’s insanity how this team draws me in. I swore after Weds I didn’t care about today’s outcome. Yet here we are 3 days later and I’m eagerly waiting for 230.
Rinse. Repeat.
