Time to move on to this one, because the Hoyas seem to have checked out tonight.
I hope they have gotten this out of their system.

Not sure what our "system" was tonight. Hopefully we flush it down in the locker room.
The first 5 minutes against Marquette will tell us all we need to know about our senior leadership.

Time to bring the passion to this one. A .500 finish in Big East play would be a huge achievement for this team. Wins over both Villanova and Marquette would also be a major step for a team that has struggled in recent years to even keep it close against the top teams in this league. And a win would also get the taste of whatever tonight was out of my mouth.
I hope the young guys are ready to give their all for our seniors on Saturday. Jessie, Kaleb, and Trey have given a lot to this team in their time here, and it has often been a thankless job. Greg has also given his all during his year here.
They better bring some pride on Saturday -- I didn't see much tonight. Also, it sure would be nice to steal one on their floor after their fans were celebrating at our place a couple months ago.

I'm not looking forward to this one. An angry Markus Howard after losing 3 in a row, will be unconscious. Our only hope is the Nova beats Hall and Wojo decides to use this game as BET practice. It's not going to be fun. Hoping for some effort but, I don't see a script that benefits us.

I hope they play with a bit of pride that was sorely lacking tonight.

Now that we blew it, watch us pull the meaningless upset.

Now that we blew it, watch us pull the meaningless upset. Don’t think it would be meaningless at all. Unlikely, yes, but better to win this one than tonight. It’s not happening but I believe 9-9 and BET finals with 3 wins vs teams named nova/marquette would do it.

Have we ever given up 90 + points in consecutive Big East games in our program history? I know that sounds like a stupid question given the history of this program, but with as bad as this team has been all year on defense, it might be a very realistic possibility by Saturday afternoon facing a Marquette team that can really score quickly in bunches.

It happened once in the 2003 season, with a pair of overtime games. 1/29/2003 L 82 93 OT Seton Hall 2/1/2003 L 92 93 2OT at Notre Dame 2/3/2003 L 80 93 at Syracuse Will it happen again Saturday?

Dagger in the bubble tonight after blowout loss to DePaul. Unless Hoyas can somehow miraculously defeat Marquette at home, only shot at Big Dance will be to make it at least to semifinals in BET!

Not that it really matters in terms of our dead NCAA hopes- but Marquette is playing very poorly right now. Nowhere near as poorly as we played vs. DePaul - I don't think that is possible. But very poorly nonetheless. Howard is banged up, and their offense just does not work without him. They need the Hausers to shoot lights out on contested jumpers to mount any offense without Howard playing well. This worked (just barely) when they beat us without Howard early in the league season. But it is not working now. their collapse vs. Seton Hall was right up there with any big lead we have blown in the past decade.
Last night Powell hit a 3 to cut the Marquette lead to 10 in the final minutes. The shot hit the front rim, bounced up a few feet, came down and bounced around a bit, and went in. It was a very lucky shot to hit - but you could almost visibly see Marquette tighten up when it went down. It was instantly clear that Marquette was in big trouble even with a 10 point lead and limited time left in the game. They completely lost their composure after this shot went in.
That's all a long way of saying that if we can put the DePaul DeBacle behind us, this Marquette game is completely winnable. If we play with some energy and focus, we are playing a team that is a mix of falling apart and desperate. They will certainly whip us if we continue our midwestern sleepwalk. But if we wake up, we'll have every opportunity to win this game.

Even if we beat Marquette it would likely take a BET win to make the tournament at this point. Losing last night essentially killed most chances we had.

If we beat Marquette and all the other teams on the bubble lose to DePaul by 30+ points, i think we're back in the tournament.

I hope they play with a bit of pride that was sorely lacking tonight. The whole world predicted at the start of the season that we would finish at the bottom of the conference, and then the team gave us hope. Well, as Red in Shawshank Redemption said, "Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive you insane."

Still playing with house money. Hope they go out there and play loose and care-free (but not careless). Marquette is trying to avoid a late season implosion, so they may well play a bit nervously, and they get behind, their home crowd could well become a disadvantage should the groans begin.
Whether or not the at large is gone--one thing remains true: if we win 4 consecutive we will be dancing.

Beat Marquette, and make a run in the BET. Will we? Who knows, but if we can do that it'd be a start to restoring our tourney chances.

Gonna be tough to wash the stink off the performance from last night. Certainly seems to knock us a back a few steps from the strides made this year. This game and the BET are extremely important to build momentum heading into next year (and possibly the NIT). Most of us here understand that progress has been made this year but we need that narrative to reach a larger audience and performances like last night are more damaging than a normal loss. I'm really hoping other results fall our way, or we get an unexpected win Saturday, so we can avoid Wed night and have a shot to play a prime time BET game.

I just don't see how this ends up being a win. marquette needs to build momentum and start making their final push and that starts on their senior night, a game where they will be more motivated to play. Markus Howard will score like 60. I just don't see what would make Marquette lose this game. Govan would need to go off. Need some momentum for the nBEt and to avoid that terrible Wednesday night.

Did the Villanova game look like a win in advance? Did it look like the Hoyas were going to be blown out last night? They play the game for a reason.
